Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

He isn't the choice I would make, but he is the best free agent available, and most NFL professionals aren't impressed with any of the draft choices, so he may well be the best choice. Obviously Reid and Dorsey think he is. Time will tell.

Forget 24 points, Alex Smith once lost a game to the Falcons 16-14.

Game 1, Rodgers lost to Smith. You think the 49ers couldn't beat the Packers with Smith? THEY DID. And they did it in Green Bay.

Didn't he do something like that the year before? Twice even maybe except one of the times his team mates didn't recipicate.

Teams evolve and change as the season goes on.

If you want to believe that Alex Smith beats a QB like Rodgers in the playoffs, be my guest. You're a ****ing moron for thinking so, but I'm not going to stop you.

And before you bring up the Saints playoff game, no, the Packers defense was not even close to being that bad.

when 2 qb's go in the top 10, its gonna happen imo, and we will be standing there with Luke Jockel and have not really upgraded our team at all. That is what's disappointing to me.

As it looks right now, we are going to lose Albert, replace him with a rookie who's not going to be a game changer and replace our qb with Mr. Game manager. Its just depressing as all hell.

If we aren't gonna take Geno at one (which is all but guaranteed) then our ONLY move is to trade down.

I don't care if we get 50 cents on the dollar...we can't pick anybody but Geno at 1 and improve the team...outside of Milliner and no way I take him that high...that's a bigger reach than Geno. If we take Joeckel, we are letting a top ten left tackle walk to do so...plus, an equivalent to him can be had 5-10 picks later.

Call up the Bills and tell em you'll swap picks, take their second rounder this year and next and move to 8. They only give up 2400 points for the pick worth 3000. That's like paying to move up to 3 instead of 1....but then you get your choice of quarterback.

I doubt they would turn that down.

Shit, I'd move down again, if I could.

The Packers lost both of those games because the 49ers as a team were better.

They lost the 2nd game by more because Colin Kaepernick is a better QB.

You're focused on the wrong argument. That's what's funny.

Nobody gives a shit how a team gets there. Alex was 6-2 in the regular season? DOES. NOT. MATTER.

The playoffs are a completely different story. If Alex wasn't playing in that game (he wasn't) then his regular season accomplishments mean nothing.

Bullshit, the saints defense wasn't horrible. Smith did some incredible things in the fourth quarter.

My point stands that none of us know if Smith would have won or lost in the playoffs. You are just assuming you know. As I said earlier, a lot of you think you are the "smart" fans, when really all you are is opinionated.

Alex played lights out in that game. One of three terrific games he played in 2012 - GB, DET, BUF.

At the same time the 49er defense dominated the Packers. Aaron Rodgers was running for his life. Cedric Benson had 18 yards rushing the entire game. Even the linebackers were shutting down the GB receivers in coverage.
