The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

With or without a trade going down involving Albert before the draft I fully expect the Chiefs to pick a OT.

Albert can't be any more gone without actually being gone.

Truth is as of right now they dont know who they are drafting.

Stupid La Canfora saying we have already decided on Joker.

Dorsey seems like he wants B Albert here l. I just dont think there is a mutual connection there.

Are you gobbling up everything he says in interviews while ignoring the fact he allowed another team to talk with him while under contract to work out a trade?

Dorsey will do whatever is best for KC, Albert will do what's best for himself. That answers whether he'll be here. I see Albert trade the night before the draft kind of like Allen a few years ago. I'm not too bent out of shape over this because of Albert's age and body transformations with losing and gaining weight over the years as speculated. We'll see how it all plays out. It will be a fun draft because there's not a big difference in 1 and 15 overall.

Yep that's exactly what he's doing. He's trying every angle he can to give himself any hope Geno Smith is drafted.

This is based on common sense. They aren't taking him. But they are saying 4 names and floating them around trying to get a team like Buffalo to jump.

The source said they know who they are taking if they stay at 1.

I mentioned last week that one of my sources said that Buffalo will take one of the available tackles or guards, then trade back into the first round for Nassib if there's a late run on QB's.

He's their guy, supposedly. Take it for what it's worth.
