There's been some ballyhooing of the Dee Ford selection. But this is how you build defenses in the 21st century.

Facts:

1. Hali's contract (and potentially his physical ability thanks to weight inconsistencies and age) will be a liability in 2015.

2. Houston needs to be penned longterm, and he is going to cost a boatload.

3. Dee Ford is a one-dimensional passrushing demon.

4. This team needs passrushing demons.

5. It is easier to coach run defense and pass coverage to an expert passrusher than it is passrushing to an expert run defender and coverage.

6. No matter what happens, we have three really good passrushers in 2014.

7. No matter what happens, we have two really good passrushers in 2015.

8. If you're going to round out a talent like Ford's, giving him a year in rotation with Hali and Houston is PERFECT.

9. Ford is very fast, very athletic, with a great motor.

10. We lost to the Colts not because we couldn't score, but because we couldn't defend.

We have done a decent job beefing up this front seven.

Catapano's gotten bigger.
Mays is a thumper.
Walker can rush the pass.
We now have three talent off the edge.

Pretty freaking awesome.

I probably would have gone with Ealy or Hageman, but I love the pick. Just explaining why.

I think it's more important to add an ILB who can drop back into coverage.

This was already debunked as bullshit by Hali himself. I can't imagine that guy being fat and out of shape-hell last season he was balancing on a ball kicking peoples asses in Brazil and pulling dudes uphill on a sled.

This won't be Hali's last year here.

**** that. We have our starting ILBs.

We invest heavy at WR and DB now, with a NT thrown in there somewhere. All the NTs in this draft are still on the board.

The pick sucked. Terrible reach. Passed on much better talent at other positions. There are a slew of other better overall players that can rush the passer left on the board. I can't bring myself to like this pick at all. Hopefully, for Chiefdom, this pick works out extremely well. When Jimmie Ward looks just like Earl Thomas in Frisco, I will cry though.

It was all there for KC. Ward, Dennard or Lee and they went with Ford. The bar is set pretty high for Ford. If he can have 70+ sacks (Tamba 73.5)after eight seasons as a CHIEF then it will have paid off to draft him.

I don't think that I would have taken any of those guys you listed over Ford. Maybe Ealy but he's a big question mark as far as his ability to convert to 3-4 OLB.
