Intellectually, I'm a hipster in that I keep abreast of current cultural movements with my tastes running toward the avante-garde in literature, art, music, food, and architecture.

Fashion-wise, I'm a 40 year old soccer dad.

I have hipster-ish clothes and hang out at hipster bars in Williamsburg but I don't consider myself a hipster. I enjoy a good shave, haircut and smelling acceptable to society.

Except if I was one I would gladly admit it but I'm pretty sure hipsters aren't into the following:

Playing hockey
my brand new Acura
Gillette Fusion Razor
Soap
Deordorant
Fine Beers that aren't Tecate, PBR, Rolling Rock etc...
Women that don't look like they're homeless or like a boy
Air Jordan sneaker collection

A hipster is someone who is smart enough to talk about philosophy, music, politics, art, etc. with you all day long, but not smart enough to see how big of a tool s/he is.

The only sure fire way to tell if someone you're talking to is, in fact, a hipster is to ask them "are you a hipster?". If they respond no, and turn their casette player back on, you can be sure you're dealing with a hipster.

Person 1: I met this really smart girl with a goofy haircut, but I think she has asperger's.

Person 2: She's probably just a hipster.

Hipsters LOVE those studies and they love them because it makes them feel smart when arguing with drunk idiots at a bar. They only go to college so they can feel smarter than their peers, but usually graduate with no actual money making skills.

All hipsters are narcissists. All of them.

I think saying you're a hipster means you're no longer hipster. A Hipster would have you believe he developed his look and style in vacuum.
