Anyone here doing the E-Cig / Vape thing?

Thanks to my vape, I've had only one single cigarette in the past 3 weeks. I have zero cravings for them and I feel considerably better. In fact, I still have about 5 smokes left in a pack and just can't see myself smoking those... don't want to.

Even better... 5ml of juice, which costs $5, lasts me about 2 weeks meaning that I am spending less in the long run. I only smoked, at most, a pack a week... but still.

I tried the Blu E-Cigs but they were terrible. Trying to "smoke" out of one of those was like trying to take a hit off a joint that was rolled WAY to tight.

I'm using an eGo-V v2 mega battery with variable voltage control with a gravity tank.

Yeah the VTR is the beefier version of the MVP. It's one of the best VV/VW devices out there. I couldn't pull the trigger. If I was a little better off financially it would have been easier to buy.

Just another plus for the Nautilus: I grabbed a bottle of liquid from the same local store I had been using. I had heard that this tank brings out the best in fluids. Well, the fluid was remarkably better. No comparison. Same mod, same battery, same fluid and the Nautilus made cheap (made in the US) liquid taste good.

It looks like a really good deal as a second mod. Easier to carry around than my SVD, might make a good replacement for when my VV 3.0s die.

Hmm. The VTR has an extension tube so you don't have to worry about your tank fitting in that ring on the side:

Yep I think I'm gonna snatch one next time I find a good deal. After some research, the one I have is just so-so.

What do you have? I am very happy with my Innokin SVD with the Aspire Nautilus tank. The shape is kind of odd, like a light saber or a sonic screwdriver. That's the only "negative" is that it's more like a pipe or a bong in size and shape. I have to admit that the VTR is really, really tempting for when my VV 3.0s go bad. Looks like it fits the hand really well. If it comes up for $55 bucks like that again I'm going for it and it will be my running around vape. I do need to find a good site for reasonably priced decent brand 18650s though. Seems like I am only seeing them for 12 or 15 bucks now at around the 2k+/10 amp level, which is what I am wanting.

Here is a glowing review of the VTR:
http://www.vapecore.com/2013/12/inno...te-vtr-review/

My last VV/VW device I purchased before the VTR was an SVD at the beginning of summer. It works OK, but is fairly underwhelming and I really don’t care for the look and feel of it.

After getting into mechs, there was a time when I actually didn’t know if I would ever go back to the world of variable voltage and variable wattage. That all changed when I finally caved in and picked up a VTR kit on Fasttech for around $70. At the time, I thought the price was fairly steep even though it was a good $20 – $30 cheaper than anywhere else, and in fact I think they have now dropped the price even more. So I wasn’t expecting a lot, but I really did like the appearance of it, and thought it would be a perfect gateway back into variable voltage and wattage devices.
What I DIDN’T like about the VTR

Probably the biggest issue with the VTR is the recessed atomizer deck. The VTR was basically designed to be used with iClears, and as a result, it has a sunken in deck meant to perfectly fit an iClear 30 or 30s.

That means, it isn’t going to perfectly fit every type of device. For example, most genesis atomizers are much bigger in diameter and won’t fit. The Chobra is actually a perfect match diameter-wise, but the top band covers the airhole meaning you would have to custom drill a separate airhole to accommodate, which probably isn’t worth it.

On the flip side, they do provide an extension that will let you screw in your atomizer on the very top, and thus will accommodate any size, however, I think that totally takes away the amazing form factor, rendering this no more than a heavier iTaste MVP.

So really for the correct experience with this device, you will need to find an atomizer that fits well – meaning it should be around the same size as an iClear 30.

Which brings me to the second thing I didn’t like about the VTR – it is really ****ing heavy. Now that isn’t a huge deal for me personally, but I know there are a lot of vapers out there who don’t care for really heavy/bulky equipment, and this definitely falls in that category.
What I DID like about the VTR

I love the appearance. it is really an impressive looking device. The dial on the top looks great, the LED looks great, and it looks really nice with a cool tank and drip tip setup. Overall, this is probably the coolest looking piece I own.

Performance wise, it is excellent. I have had absolutely no issues with it whatsoever. It is super fast and easy to change your voltage/wattage settings, and you can check your ohms in one click.

The firing button is on the side of the device, which seemed weird at first, but it is a million times better than the MVP button placement, and I got used to it really quickly.

Battery life seems to be amazing. The great thing about the VTR is that it takes 18650 batteries rather than using a built in battery like the MVP. I think this is a HUGE advantage. A lot of people love the battery life of the MVP, and I can admit that it is good, but I don’t like having my device tied to a built in battery because once the battery gets worn out, your device is useless. With the ability to run 18650s, you completely eliminate that risk, and can bring spare batteries so you’ll never get caught without power. My battery life also seems to be unbelievable with this thing. I have had it for over a month and have maybe changed the battery 3 times at most. There is a colored LED above the button that will indicate what stage your battery is at, so you will always know when you’re getting ready for a change.

Despite the size limitations of the atomizer deck, I have found that it fits a lot of different atomizers just fine. I have run a Protank with no problems at all (actuall a Unitank, but same size). My favorite setup is an 804 Dream Tank, which is a Kayfun style atomizer. It fits perfectly and gives me one of the best vapes of any device/atty combo I have EVER tried. I think once you add your own tank/drip tip, you will see that the appearance gets even better. The only real negative about the appearance is that iClears don’t look that cool, so once you are able to use your own piece, it just looks that much better.

Of course, another great feature is the quality – this thing is built like a tank, and has the heft to prove it.
Who is it good for?

This is a device that clearly has mass appeal, and can be used by vapers at all different levels. For beginners, there is nothing easier than a VTR/iClear setup. Perfectly easy to set up, and just as easy to maintain. Absolutely no guess work, and you will run very little risk of dry hits and flooding.

For advanced users, it is just as good. I have been running the Dream tank with amazing success and rebuilt protanks work just as well.

The only people this device wouldn’t be that great for are those who primarily use genesis atomizers, as I think it would be tricky to find a gennie that would fit perfectly into the recessed deck.
Where to buy?

Pick up a VTR kit on Fasttech for around $70.
Do I use it?

Right now, I am using this thing a ton. It is one of my go-to devices. I can always count on this one when I’m on the go, as there are literally no problems with it EVER. I intend to keep using this for a very long time.
My Ideal Setup

The primary atomizer I am using on this is an 804 Dream Tank. It is a kayfun style tank, although more cheaply made. On any other device it wouldn’t be anything special, but it works so perfectly on the VTR, it’s like the two were meant to be together.

I run mine with a 1.7 ohm coil at 15 watts. I have been using Vanilla Dream from MOV at 24 mg, and this setup gives me probably the best overall vape I have ever had.

The only real downside is that Dream tanks aren’t that easy to find, even though they aren’t that expensive. I am really hoping that Fasttech gets a hold of something similar in the new year because it is the absolute perfect device for the VTR.
The Bottom Line

Quality. The quality of this thing is just unparalleled. Everything on it works perfectly, and it was built in such a way that everything is in the right place. This is a stark contrast to the SVD and iTastes, where buttons seemed oddly placed. In general, the quality of Innokin products is very good, and this is no exception.

Performance. The results I have had with the VTR are simply amazing. When combined with the right atomizer, I get one of the cleanest vapes I have had from any device out there, period.

Ease of Use. Right out of the box, the VTR + iClear 30s combo is about the easiest setup ever for a newer vaper. Switching tanks is super easy. Checking ohms takes only one click. Changing volts/watts has never been easier. The battery indicator tells you when your battery starts to get low. They really have left no stones unturned with this one, and it is truly one of the most user friendly devices you can possibly get.

Appearance. By far, this is the best looking VV/VW mod out there. One of the big turnoffs for me with APVs like the SVD and even the Provari, is that they get to be very big once you attach a tank. A provari in 18650 mode with a protank or a Vivi Nova attached is going to look big and clunky. An SVD with the same setup is going to be bordering on ridiculous. The VTR has answered that problem in a HUGE way, and made using big tanks actually look cool.

Price. I was kind of put off by the price of this thing at first, but in the $60 – $75 range, this has turned out to be a hell of a steal. The build quality combined with the performance and ease of use make this a no-brainer in this price range. I have seen a lot worse quality APVs sell for more, and there is really no comparison.

Overall. I really love the VTR and I can’t recommend it enough. I love finding new types of tanks to use with it. When I first tried it with the Dream tank I was absolutely blown away by the synergy between the two devices. The Protank is nearly as good, and I have been loving using my recoiled protanks on the VTR.

There is very little negative to say about it. Generally I don’t love paying a ton for my mods because good clones are so cheap these days, but this is one that is really worth treating yourself to. I’ve owned an MVP in the past, and while I think it is a serviceable and practical device, the VTR only costs slightly more and is miles ahead of the MVP.

This is a must buy.

Pick up a VTR kit on Fasttech for around $70.

After a few months I really like my VTR. It does has it's flaws like every device. But for an entry level box mod you can't go wrong. It feels like a tank in your hand. I bought the green version and glad I did. A friend bought the stainless and his VTR is nothing but smudges.

The issue of only using iClear 30's is really a non-issue. The block allows you run any other tank you want to use. If you don't like using the block, cut the rings off of it.
