Play Structure Thread - Build your own or buy a kit?

Playstructure type deal



So does anyone make these kinds of playstructures themselves or do we all just buy the kits and build them from a kit?

I'm gonna post up what I build or buy, but I'd appreciate any advice you veterans would offer.

I hear there is a Chinese guy roaming around the country building these really awesome sheds. I'll bet he could knock out a play structure fairly easy and cheaply.

My neighbor bought a kit. I watched him put it together. They might as well have given him an acorn so he could grow an oak tree, cut it down, and carve it into a jungle gym. It was a ****ing joke.

Probably a lowe's or Home Depot kit, as they basically give you some plans and materials and a material list for a minimal price. The big ones in boxes like I got from Sam's are a pain in the ass and time consuming to construct, but they're very doable for most people.

Helped brother put a similar play set together as the ones depicted. Rumor has his daughter may have used the play set at some point..............

Honestly, if your kid is that young, all you need is this one. My son used this till about 4 or 5.

I will agree that there's nothing worse than building a huge playset, and the kids not playing on it (we currently are suffering that issue with our trampoline). My kids, though, play like crazy on our playset and have for years. But I have two boys separated by 2 years, and they're both into imaginative play. It's a rocket ship, fort, restaurant, store, etc....

If all they used it for was swinging and climbing, there would definitely be better options. I do question the affordability of the "berliner" style sets, though. Somehow I think they're a little pricier than my $1,200 Sam's kit.
