Pest Mock - 03/18

1. The Chiefs extend QB Alex Smith 6 years, $90m (when you break the numbers down, it will actually break down to 4 years, $60m, with something like $35m guaranteed), and S Eric Berry 6 years, $45m ($23m guaranteed). They will extend Justin Houston at some point during the 2015 season.

2. The Chiefs let walk: WR Kyle Williams, NT Jerrell Powe (no 6th round tender), ILB Akeem Jordan, S Kendrick Lewis, S Quentin Demps

3. The Chiefs end the first wave of FA with their current signings of ILB Joe Mays, OLB Frank Zombo, S Hussain Abdullah, G Jeff Linkenbach, and DE Vance Walker.

Depth Chart Assumptions:

1. Commings will battle Abdullah for the starting FS job.
2. Rishaw Johnson, Eric Kush and Jeff Linkenbach will battle for the starting RG job.

1.23. - Odell Beckham, WR, LSU - There are 3 major holes on this team at this point....WR, RG and FS. This front office seems content with letting Commings get his shot while re-signing Abdullah as insurance. I can't see them drafting a OG in the 1st round at this point either. Luckily the WR class is good this year. Beckham is everything that Andy Reid could want in a WR.

3.87. - E.J. Gaines, CB, Missouri - Flowers is more than likely gone after this year. Cooper will get more playing time this season but we need to find a player who can man the slot this year and possibly replace Smith in a couple of years.

4.119. - Jackson Jeffcoat, DE/OLB, Texas - Good God this team needs depth behind Hali and Houston...as well as someone to take over for Hali after he's cut next year.

5.151. - Terrance Brooks, S, Florida State - Commings will more than likely be given every opportunity to win the starting FS job. If he falters this season or gets injured....then Abdullah will step in. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't draft for the future.

6.177. - Charles Leno, G/OT, Boise State
- Keep building that offensive line depth. Especially with Hudson's contract up after next season....and Allen's the season after that.

6.183. - George Atkinson III, RB, Notre Dame - 3rd RB and KR/PR

I'd cream my jeans if we got Brooks in the 5th.

The guys at CBS Sportsline seem to think he's probably gone in the 2nd or 3rd according to his prospect ranking.

Not bad. Instead of Gaines I like Watkins out of FL but he maybe gone by our third. I think you're right about Flowers and Hali.

Yeah....I probably dropped him too far. I'll swap him out.

Yeah, Brooks would be a dream at that spot.

Not a big fan of Leno.

Overall, you're getting a starting WR, an eventual starting S, and two pretty good prospects to eventually start at CB and OLB, and two guys who will be trying to survive on roster spots for three years before they're out of the league.

I think that's a pretty good haul, but it honestly could have been a pinch better with better low-round picks.

We aren't drafting a WR in the 1st....it was evident in Dorsey's presser today.
