This years WR crop is not very good. IMO, neither Holmes or Nance will be an immediate impact player. WRs rarely are as rookies, and these guys aren't as good as some that have come out in the past.
DEs are pretty weak in this draft after Kiwanuka. And you usually don't get a real impact DE in the middle of the 1st rnd anyway. Marcus Mcneill is another guy that I think will be available when we pick, and I really like him. He reminds me of Roaf a lot, and I think he has the footwork to fit in our run blocking scheme. The more I look at this draft, the more I like the O-linemen. I know it may not be an immediate need, but there are going to be some great hogs come out of this year's draft, and we could start preparing for the departure of Roaf, Shields, and Weigmann in this draft.

We need a DT really bad but our pass defense will never get better as long as we have only 1 legit pass rushing DE.
DE. Lose Hicks. |

The teams Indy has the most problems with.... Jax and Indy today... both can pressure Manning with just the front four. If it takes more that four, he kills the opponents. The same will probably apply to Cincy, SD and Denver. Look how many problems Chicago is giving Atlanta and Vick with just the front four tonight. |

I would spend our free agent money on an above average DT. Then I'd probably grab a playmaking passrusher in the 1st round (Elvis Dumervil). I'd take a RB in the 2nd round to protect myself from LJ and Priest's erratic behavior. Then I'd try to pry Patrick Ramsey from the Skins for a 3rd rounder. My fourth rounder would be a strong safety.

I've been saying this before the 2005 NCAA season even started...Offensive Tackle.
There are easily 6 OT's that can be taken in the first round.

Some of the most recent mocks that I've seen have us taking an OT (McNeil), OLB (Brooks (wouldn't that be sweet)), and DT (Wright).

I'm not giving up for a Chiefs win on Christmas Eve and New Years Day but barring a miracle there will be no post season for them and their fans.
I haven't voted in the poll but I think we should draft the best player on the board offense or defense. Here's some prospect rankings. As it stands now we'll be picking 13th-17th there abouts..........Starting this makes me sad. --------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scott Wright's Top 32 Players for the 2006 NFL Draft Player Class Position School 1. Reggie Bush JR RB Southern Cal You won't find a more explosive, dynamic playmaker in the country. 2. Matt Leinart SR QB Southern Cal Could have gone #1 overall in 2005 and is the frontrunner again. 3. D'Brickashaw Ferguson SR OT Virginia A franchise left tackle with amazing athleticism and nimble feet. 4. Mario Williams JR DE North Carolina St. Might ultimately be the best DE prospect since Julius Peppers in '02. 5. A.J. Hawk SR OLB Ohio St. Standout who is seemingly all over the field and in on every play. 6. Haloti Ngata JR DT Oregon Has the physical tools to rank right up there with the best in the draft. 7. Vince Young JR QB Texas Has all the physical tools in the world but is very raw as a passer. 8. Jimmy Williams SR CB Virginia Tech Former safety who has an ideal combo of size, speed and athleticism. 9. DeAngelo Williams SR RB Memphis Productive player who is far and away the best senior at his position. 10. Michael Huff SR CB Texas Ballhawk in the secondary who projects to either S or CB in the pros. 11. Mathias Kiwanuka SR DE Boston College A tall, rangy sack artist with excellent athleticism and production. 12. Santonio Holmes JR WR Ohio St. Polished WR who is a big play threat but also does the little things. 13. Chad Greenway SR OLB Iowa Skills have drawn some favorable comparisons to Brian Urlacher. 14. Eric Winston SR OT Miami (FL) Still recovering from a knee injury and could end up being a steal. 15. Marcedes Lewis SR TE U.C.L.A. A wide receiver in the body of a tight end who can be a major weapon. 16. DeMeco Ryans SR OLB Alabama Great player who gets lost in the shuffle with so many great LB's. 17. Vernon Davis JR TE Maryland Amazing physical specimen who will be a true workout warrior. 18. Winston Justice JR OT Southern Cal Still improving but has all the tools and could be a great one. 19. Tamba Hali SR DE Penn St. Finally started to garner all the attention he deserves as a senior. 20. LenDale White JR RB Southern Cal Gets overshadowed by Bush but he is a top prospect in his own right. 21. Laurence Maroney JR RB Minnesota Extremely productive and a threat to go the distance at any time. 22. Rodrique Wright SR DT Texas An enigma who has all the talent but never really plays up to it. 23. Claude Wroten SR DT L.S.U. Could end up being a better prospect than Marcus Spears was in '05. 24. Leonard Pope JR TE Georgia At 6-7 and 250 lbs. he is the best all-around tight end out there. 25. LaRon Landry JR S L.S.U. Has experience at both FS and SS and is a guy who can do it all. 26. Jay Cutler SR QB Vanderbilt Player on the rise who is easily the #2 senior signal caller. 27. Marcus McNeill SR OT Auburn Great athlete who has all the tools to be a top tackle prospect. 28. Thomas Howard SR OLB U.T.E.P. One of the fastest, most athletic linebackers you will ever see. 29. Tye Hill SR CB Clemson Probably a better prospect than Justin Miller was a year ago. 30. Darnell Bing JR S Southern Cal Amazing athlete who excels both versus the run as well as the pass. 31. Bobby Carpenter SR OLB Ohio St. Hybrid OLB / DE who would be a great fit in in a 3-4 scheme. 32. Jonathan Scott SR OT Texas A prototypical left tackle prospect who still has a lot of upside. ------- PhilFree

Theres 2 impact ends, Mario Williams and Mathias Kiwanuka, we aren't going to be picking top 5 so we won't touch those guys. This however is a really good DT year. What I would do to fill the 2 biggest needs this team has, is I would go out and spend free agent money on Darren Howard at DE. Then I'd take the best DT on the board with my first round pick. I'd follow that up with a safety because most teams in the NFL devalue safeties on draft day. You could likely grab a first round talent at safety in the 2nd round. |

Kiwanuka is listed at 262lbs which means he's probably 10 pounds lighter. He's gonna get the tweener lable like Elvis.
