Waiting was Ryan Reynolds greatest performance.

The fat suit, Anna Faris, his brother naked with Anna Faris and the oil, the skating, the braces, blowing up the Christmas display, the mom being from Airplane - I can't remember laughing harder.
You can take the dork out of the small town but you can't take the small town out of the dork. I loved it, especially Anna. She was the perfect narcissistic pop star. |

I haven't seen Safe House, I need to, but he was really really good in Smokin Aces. That was outside of his normal role and he had the dramatic last scene. I think he can do it, he just needs to quit accepting jank ass roles.

Safe House was really good, I thought. He didn't have to carry the movie himself because Denzel was also in it but he did a great job. He was flexing his drama muscles in that one.

You guys are making me remember more RR greats.
Waiting, The Proposal, Definitely Maybe. He's got a pretty good resume- comedy, action and drama. He could use some blockbusters though. |

It reflects on him a bit as well, no? Maybe he's not being offered blockbusters because studios aren't approaching him. Or maybe he's turning them down..? I have no clue how he could have read the script for RIPD and decided to sign on for that shitshow. I seriously watched that for 6 minutes and turned it off. |

Pretty good, actually. They somehow make an upwardly mobile, extremely smart young Manhattan-ite with matinee idol looks seem like a sympathetic figure. Then again, I'm a product of divorce who married his HS sweetheart and have 2 yr old daughter of my own so there's some layers in that movie that I find more personal than many would. So perhaps I gave it more credit than it deserved. Still, I liked it.

I haven't seen it in years but I watched it in theaters with a couple female coworkers at the time. I remember liking it a lot. That was the first thing I ever remember seeing Ryan Reynolds in, although I did see Waiting somewhere around that time as well. |
