No losing records in Playoffs?

It was looking like 7-9 would make the playoffs in the NFC West.

Should the NFL allow this?

I mean, if a division winner can't muster an 8-8 record, they should forfeit the spot to the highest remaining record team regardless of division, IOW, an extra wild card team, and that division just forfeits its berth.

You have to let them in... They did what it takes within the rules to make it... It's not their fault that the rest of their conference SUCKS.

There is another reason why they MUST be allowed to play. It creates an unfair advantage for the team that doesn't have an opponent in the tournament, if they just have a bye. There is a reason why the bottom seed plays the top seed and the two top seeds have the byes... It's because they want to make sure that if someone just sneeks into the playoffs, then they should have the toughest road throughout. But the flipside is, for the top seed, they should have the EASIEST road throughout. If you don't allow the bottom seed to play that makes the road significantly harder for the teams that earned the top seed...

But why should a 7-9 division winner get a home game against a 7-9 wild card entrant?
