Like who? What 49er fan has said that? mac may of been the closest but even he hasn't said that shit. Most logical people are hoping he can be Rich Gannon. Not Joe Montana.

Do you call never being able to crack 17 TDs in a season "not being shut down"?

The Niners under Alex were just like the 90s Chiefs. Methodical, patient, protective of the ball, boring as ****, and terrible at scoring points.

I'm not going to explain this again. If you have not figured out all the true reasons for the offensive production being what it was, then you are on your own here.

Joe Flacco got off on being efficient and game managerly for a good portion of his career. It suited both him and the offense well. They won a lot of playoff games and got close a bunch of times. Couldn't quite seem to get over the hump, though.

What changed?

He started chucking that shit around the ****ing field. And the Ravens started winning shootouts.

Can Alex do that consistently in the playoffs? Can he win the tough games by throwing for 300+ yards and being the savior we need him to be?

If not, then he will NEVER win a Super Bowl. The way he claims to play now will never win him anything.

Donnie Avery is very much in that mold.

Dwayne Bowe is very much like Anquan Boldin. He just has to trust his receivers and give them a chance.

I love Alex, but this is truth, if his game is going to go to another level other than Game MANAGER he has to learn to see it, and sling it.

That's how ya do it! Brownie points +1, bro!

Alex did develop a reservation over trusting some of his targets.. for reasons deserved or not. So I too will hope that some of his new receivers put his mind at ease by doing their job well.

Well, I am not trying to earn Brownie points. But thanks. I am however saying that for Alex to take the next step in qbing, that there are going to have to be some throws that he will have to make on 3rd downs, that we haven't seen him make because in reality, he hasn't really had to.

And it is true. Alex Smith just started to fully trust Crabtree in their last few games together, and the only receiver I ever saw he fully trusted, was Josh Morgan.

Hopefully Bowe, McCluster, and Avery can form that trust with Alex Smith that he wont be throwing short of the first down on 3rd, and long.

Im saying this not to appease the Haters, im saying this to appease my own desire for Alex Smith to show how complete he can be.

It really didn't dawn on me last night what used to drive people crazy until I watched Brandon Weeden play qb, and then watched Jason Campbell come in after him. Jason Campbell last night, played exactly like Alex Smith the past two years.

Threw short of the first down marker 3 times, where as Brandon Weeden was zinging passes all over the field, and completing third down passes by not thinking and riffling the ball in there like a BOSS.

I want Alex to succeed. I know that his way can be successful. I want him now to take that step towards being a reason for the success, not just a part of it. EVOLUTION FRIEND.....EVOLUTION.

YAC

I hope and expect that Reid's scheme will want what you want. I don't like the throws or routes short of the 3rd down marker either, but there must be some reason coaches have receivers running them, eh?

Yes mac, and occasionally, a check down can work, but lets be honest. far too many times, alex smith too the short check down rather than pushing the ball down the field. Occasionally, an incomplete pass past the 1st down marker, is better than a check down that leaves you short. At least then the defense knows you will push the issue. I am not criticizing alex smith. I am simply stating that with the support Andy Reid has put behind him that there is no reason for him not to take more chances than he has in the past.

I fully understand while he was in San Francisco of being afraid to make mistakes. Andy Reid is not going to replace him for one mistake. His leash is a lot longer than that.
