Chiefs make push to bring Super Bowl to Kansas City
The super bowl could be in KC everyone be prepared for the glorious day.


KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Kansas City Chiefs are getting ready to make a push for the Super Bowl.

For a while, it looked like the 2015 Super Bowl would be held at Arrowhead Stadium. The NFL owners voted to hold the game in Kansas City, but the team withdrew its bid because of a disagreement about stadium renovations.

Now, a new push to bring the big game to the metro begins. Monday will be the Super Bowl Task Force first meeting.

Missouri hopes Arrowhead Stadium will become the next "cold weather" stadium to host the Super Bowl.

This comes as the league started hosting the Super Bowl in colder cities. Just last year, the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos squared off in New Jersey. The temperature was in the lower 40s.

This year, however, will heat back up in Phoenix, AZ. But it is certainly an exciting prospect for Chiefs fans this next time around.

Local lawmakers, like Sen. Paul LeVota, of Independence, are coaxing the league to make the Chiefs Stadium its next stop.

LeVota helped put together the task force in the state's economic development department in an effort to rake in revenue.

He said the stadium's $350 million makeover back in 2010 is an added draw for the NFL.

KCTV5 News is expecting more details about the meetings ahead.
