We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Missouri's defense faced the worst possible scenario. They are designed to pressure the QB and get sacks. Instead the got Nebraska circa 1988.

How many times has the NCAA tournament actually produced a champion that was the best team? Is it more than 30%?

Basketball needs a series to establish the best team. For ****'s sake, if baseball had a tournament like the NCAA and you filled it with AAA teams as well as MLB clubs there would be times where the AAA teams would make it to the Elite Eight.

With a 20 foot three point line in one game anything can happen, and that completely devalues the journey to get to the damn thing.

As someone else said, MU just didn't have the back end defensive talent. Not yet. It will get there though if they can turn this into great recruiting.

Start putting some of those great athletes as ss and lb

I know the Cap One Bowl has a bigger payout...but it is 1 pm on New Year's Day. Cotton Bowl is on Jan. 3rd in prime time on Fox. Would MU smoking a Big 12 opponent in the Cotton be better exposure for the program than the Cap One Bowl?

Dave Steckel is still the most clueless mother****er I’ve ever seen. Tonight exposed him as bad as the Syracuse game did. The defense was continually gashed by screens once Shaw came in and he was completely unable to adjust. To let a RB slip out on a flare pattern on 4^th and Goal from the 15 is just unimaginably stupid. Teams shouldn’t convert that more than five percent of the time and they did it easily.


Thompson was so bad it really overshadowed the ineptitude of the defense. SC receivers consistently got past the Missouri corners, the safeties took horrible angles, and have absolutely no ball skills. Matt White and Randy Ponder are the SEC’s version of Jarrad Page and Burntee.
