Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Ya. Unless you are planing on going full auto? Pick a different gun.
The Mac is the cheapest entry into the world of full auto. IIRC

Excellent breakdown, while both have their own qualities it only solidifies my choice of the Mossberg.

As far as being able to adapt to this or that I really don't care... I prefer a lean, clean, simple operation machine.

Another weapon these survival blogs I've been reading have me amped up on is the little old pellet gun, that's something I'll be getting again within the next couple of days (my son took the last one I had, the little sucker).

Even a simple Crossman 15 pump like I had will take down any bird, rabbit or squirrel out there if you use a pellet... and whats more, no one will hear you doing it... very important in a SHTF scenario.

I used to be the Terror of Montana with one of those little suckers, looking forward to having this little food gatherer once again... $35, cant go wrong.

I bought the Beeman RS2 at Walmart for 99 bucks. it came with a .177 & a 22 cal barrels.
I use the 22 cal on it, kill over a 100 squirrels a summer with it,had it 3 or 4 years now.
It takes a shit load of shooting to get a pellet barrel broke in. probably 800 -1000 on mine, but once broke in, it's shocking how accurate it is at distance.

I have both and there is no way I'd chose the Mossberg over the 870.

Pick up an older Wingmaster and be done with it.

I'm not the most knowledgeable guy in firearms... so, you've got a pellet gun that also fires 22's? Didn't know that was even possible, I know Beeman is a high quality pellet gun, but they shoot 22 also?

All advice is appreciated for a relative noob like myself, but what makes it better than Mossberg? everything I've read here and elsewhere so far points to the Moss for ease of carry and maintenance.

Its weird for me, my only real firearm experience is with the M16 in the army, and I can shoot the hell out of it, out of 12 qualifications in 4 years I only failed to hit expert once... but shotguns, pistols etc? I don't really know jack.

Ease of maintenance and reliability are my two main factors.

Comes with 2 barrels. one in .177 bb gun cal. & one is 22 cal.
scopes junk. spring power air rifles are real hard on scopes. pellet rifle scope will be rated for pellet rifle & a good one aint cheap.. You shoot iron sights so just junk the scope
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Beeman-Dua...Scope/16686245

it's out of stock online. Your local walmart should have one or more in store

anyone ever shoot a 10 gauge shot gun? I know they exist only because I've seen advertisements for the ammo. 10 gauge? That's like, 2 gauges louder, innit?

I used to own an old H&R single shot 10 gauge. Very loud, a nasty kick and the ammo is expensive. It will reach way out there though.

did anyone catch that msnbc or maybe it was a cbs show about the AR-15 "controversy"? I didn't watch it, I only saw the introduction and they said that there's aproximately 6 million AR-15's floating around the USA.

I was thinking, is that all? I would have guessed a hella lot more than that.
