The reason why the CHIEFS can't win another Superbowl

Is the offence not powerful enough?

No.

Is the defence just not up to snuff?

Believe it, or not - no.

The reason the CHIEFS can not win another Superbowl is because when it comes to a big game, they will never get a fairly officiated outing in the modern day NFL.

Now, of course, many teams have fans that make claims that their beloved team is the victim of bad officiating, but few have witnessed what CHIEFS fans have. Especially in the past decade.

Forget the team's 2004 season opening loss to Denver, or officials being indifferent to the Colts "creative" scrimage tactics last season. This disturbing trend is evident in far more than just one game, or season for that matter.

In the 2003 regular season the CHIEFS lost only three games, and two of those teams didn't even make the playoffs, and the other should have been at home too.
All three games were heavily hyped, on the road, and very very badly officiated.
Touchdowns were given to runningbacks that steped out-of-bounds before breaking the plane, and opposing teams recievers were allowed to push off downfield. Opposing teams offensive lines were allowed to hold, cut block, trip, and avoid penalties for playclock violations. Opposing teams defences were allowed to impede recievers regularly, and in almost every game of the 2003 CHIEFS regular season allowed to interfere.
When one takes a hard look it is actually amazing that the CHIEFS won thirteen of those games.

I can't believe I even read this thread- the pure incapacity of this thread is to a lesser degree than the total value of an entire Jerry Springer show.

Spend a little more time watching the game on the field instead of the cheerleaders on the sidelines, and you might learn something.

Hell, if he spent any time watching the cheerleaders, he wouldn't be complaining about the officiating.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

While I would say the Chiefs get their fair share of bad calls against them, I would not agree its because of any bias. I would say bad calls are the result of bad refereeing.
The only possible bias I could see against the Chiefs would be a bias against Vermeil by officials. He can come off whiney in press conferences and I'm sure he comes off that way the officials as well. If he mentions before the game of how often Gonzo gets held every game, they will start watching it and call Gonzo for pushing off every time he does it. Officials are human, bitch and moan to them all the time and they are not going to react positively to you. If you complain all the time, they will have no sympathy. Hold your criticism until a critical time then the referees might consider that the coach doesn't complain that much so there may be something to it.

Bad calls are part of the game - every team gets them. However, not every team has the worst defense in the league over the past 3 years, has the cap room, and does nothing to upgrade the defensive talent. To me that's more of the reason then bad calls. Just my take...
