I want to see how the marketing department at the 49ers view this.

Really it's not the end of the world... but don't kid yourselves, if a Chiefs QB did this we would be tearing him apart. His response to it is probably worse than wearing the hat.

No reason to really care since he is Niner and not a Chief, but as someone else pointed out if this was KC player people would flip their shit.

If it was Alex Smith wearing a Packers hat someone from CP would have already burned his house down.

Alex isn't that dumb though. I imagine every single other QB in the league isn't dumb enough to do this.

Turned off KC fans by stating a preference for SF restaurants when he first came here.

"A lot of the restaurants here are well-intentioned, but they don't understand how to put things together," he says. "They'll order all these interesting ingredients and mix them in strange combinations. So what Tina and I will do is order a dish, but without two or three of the ingredients, and then order a couple of other ingredients that belong in there on the side."

Ah, thanks, I wasn't aware of that. That's pretty lame but nowhere near the same as wearing another team's gear.

I think the OP was trying to relate this to KC fans, more than make a direct comparison.

Not like folks are running the same thread title on a Bills or Bucs board.

True, if I saw a Chiefs player sporting something like a Bears or Giants cap, I would just think he was stupid. Now if it was a Raiders or Broncos cap...that would be a problem.

Seriously, who cares? The kid is a Dolphins fan. If you guys can show me where in the CBA it states that players can't be photographed wearing another team's merch, then there would be a problem.

During Hard Knocks last year, Tannehill didn't even know all the NFL teams and divisions. It's funny, but big deal?

There's a difference between ignorance and stupidity.

The guy went to the University of Nevada. He grew up in a small town which wasn't an NFL town. A lot of these guys coming from college to the NFL don't understand the fandom, don't understand the loyalty (and hate) and so on.

Personally, I think it's silly but obviously, others disagree and call him "stupid".

Really?
