Yeah, **** that. The Bears are stupid ****s. That doesn't mean they should take us along for the ride in their toilet swirl down the drain.

It's inevitable. The Bears ****ed everyone bc of that deal. It gives every decent QB leverage.

Then the Chiefs need to be the ones holding out on Smith.

Slap the tag on him. Extend it for as long as possible, either until Smith injures himself, his play suffers, or the Chiefs start winning some playoff games. Then act accordingly to what Alex has shown.

I would think Alex would tell us to **** off if we did that. Then what?

From what I've heard, this next QB class is nothing special.

Why would he do that? Albert got tagged. Gonzalez got tagged. Bowe got tagged.

None of those players told the Chiefs to **** off after they signed it.

Then you use the franchise tag as long as you can and go year-to-year with him while you try to find a long-term answer that isn't as financially disastrous. And if he plays an entire year like the playoff game/last 6 starts he made, you offer him what he wants and he probably takes it, just like Bowe and others before them. It's a business, and he understands that. Just ask the fanbois who swore he'd sign for an offer that showed him "respect" and that he wasn't chasing dollar signs first.

The flip side is that his play continues to be inconsistent and his asking price either drops or you're ready to move on, anyway.

The next QB class might not have an Andrew Luck in it, but it does have a redshirt freshman signal caller who won the Heisman trophy and has all the physical ability you could ask for from an NFL QB. It does have some freak athletes with huge arms and good accuracy (Mariota and Hundley). It has some more traditional pocket passers who are well respected in their own right Bryce Petty and Kevin Hogan).

I mean, that's probably as deep a QB class as we've seen in several years, comparing for this point of the season. What exactly would need to be included in it to be a strong class? A can't miss guy who's going to go first overall? That type of class doesn't help KC, anyway, unless this season absolutely craters.

I mean, I heard there aren't any surefire franchise QBs.

Better to take a non-surefire OT than a non-surefire QB, after all. Because that kind of shit matters just sooo much.

John Clayton was on on NFL Live and said he talked to Reid who stated he was confident the deal would get done and he wasnt concerned about it. I seriously doubt Smith is either.

This place is so ****ing reactionary its hilarious.

Whats will be funny is when Smith signs a fair extension and this place melts down anyway.

The Chiefs have Houston, Berry, and Poe to think about too. Unless Smith can take this team on his back then he better lessen his demands.

Fair based on what metric? If he signs a "fair deal" based on elite-level QBs, then yes, the server will be appropriately tested.

We're getting an early jump on Step 2 of my patented 7 Simple Steps to avoid Ever Drafting A QB in the First Round:

Step 2: With a high 1st-round pick, insist there is no QB worthy of that high pick and that it is best to wait until later in the draft and get a similar QB at better value.
- 2A: After all worthwhile QBs go off the board between 1st and 2nd round picks, again point to value and draft BPA.
- 2B: Continue 2A until drafting a Ricky Stanzi/Pat Barnes in Round 5 or later
