Is Hunt Telling The Truth?

Don't want to start a panic, but I know we are all thinking the same thing even if we want to ignore it. Clark SAYS he is gonna hire a vet coach that's experienced in what we need and that Pioli won't play a part in the search, but then we keep hearing about guys Pioli has connections with getting interviews and how Clark hasn't even contacted Andy Reid.

I may be jumping the gun here, but this is starting to remind me of last years "we are gonna bring in qb competition" talks that we all know how that ended.

Is this a "fool me once..." type scenario or are all the tree coaches interviewing just bs leaked by Pioli to create the impression he still has his nuts?

Should we be pissed?

I guess this discussion about interviews and the media just doesn't seem useful to me. I have no problem believing that:

a.) Clark is interviewing some Falcons guys

and

b.) that in this Twitter journalism age where being first is more important than being right (not just in sports; remember the early reports from the Newton, CT tragedy?), agents and executives will manipulate reporters to gain leverage with their clients/targets.

Clark did indicate yesterday that he has people consulting or assisting him during this HC hiring process.

He didn't say who these people are and with Fat Scott still part of the organization, his influence can't be discounted.

Of course Pioli could be sending out misinformation.

But regarding the interview in ATL?

Highly doubtful, considering every reputable NFL writer/reporter is reporting the same thing.

Ferentz? More likely, considering that died off almost immediately after people realized it originated from some rube in Iowa.

Some of you act as if Pioli runs the media, and that's just ridiculous.

And as Deez pointed out, Clark asked everyone associated with the organization to ****ing zip it.

So if we're NOT interviewing Koetter, Horton, etc, then Clark knows Pioli's talking, which can be used against Pioli in the buyout/legal process.

Basically, if 40 media members report the same thing, it's probably relatively solid info.

If some slapdick from Bumble****, Iowa says we're interviewing Kirk Ferentz, and no one else bothers to run with it, you can probably ignore it.

See, if Hunt was lying that he alone is picking a new coach, and from here on is running the franchise, just to appease the fans, it didn't work. Why not go all the way with the lie? Why not just say that he's fired? Make a press release. Fans rejoice, and Pioli, as some here think is happening anyway, can go on controlling the team in secret? I mean if your gonna lie, lie, so that people aren't scratching their heads.

The first thing I think we all can admit is that this is an extremely confusing situation with tons of moving parts. Rumors have been out there (and not exactly ever debunked) that Pioli signed an extension early in the season. For obvious reasons, Clark Hunt would never want this information to become public knowledge. Well, Sunday night and Monday morning, we start to hear that Pioli is "safe". Where would this information be coming from? It can't be from Clark Hunt because his statements to everyone that would listen are that the GM is not safe and that he (Hunt) will be hiring the next head coach.

So we have a seemingly neutered GM and owner fighting over a buyout/firing. If Pioli is fired, he takes the money, simple as that. What does Pioli have on his side to force Hunt's hand? The complete and understandable hatred and fury we have for Pioli. What is going to rush the process for Hunt to make the decision for Hunt to fire Pioli? Season ticket renewals and fan outrage. What better way to fan the flame than to start linking Pioli cronies to the Chiefs HC position? I know my blood boils even thinking about Ferentz being even interviewed, much less hired by the Chiefs. He meets NONE of the criteria that Hunt specifically listed. That truly makes me believe that any connections to Ferentz is 100 percent a Pioli manipulation of the media. I see no other option.

As far as Clark Hunt goes, I do not know how comfortable I am having Clark out selecting a new head coach on his own. I am hoping he has brought in some consultants to help him with the process. As far as Clark's ability to lure in the big name. . . . I guess he did get the last big name he went after (Pioli).

What I am trying to do. . . and what I think is best for Chiefs fans to do right now is just relax and let the process run its course. I do not see a way that Clark can ever bring Pioli back. No good coach would work with Pioli and the fans would burn arrowhead down if it is another Romeo Crennel type New England cronie.

EVERYBODY ran with it. Every major member of the NFL media has linked Ferentz to KC in the last 72 hours and the guys on NFLN were still doing it today.

I think you are missing my point....
Clark said he wanted certain criteria in a coach - being able to work with Piolimwasnt one of them - and Dirk Koetter doesn't fit hardly any of them.

So either Koetter is due diligence or Hunt is a liar.

Or he isn't interviewing Koetter at all.

Beings it's been reported that Clark didn't turn 180 on Pioli until Sunday night, it's entirely possible that Pioli already had interviews set up with potential coaches, such as Ferentz, and Clark is doing the right thing and honoring the scheduled interview and conducting business with an open mind.

Also I'm glad we're not going for Reid.
