He's just an attention whore who makes up stuff to justify his salary. Yep, all of Chief's problems are because Hunt lives in Dallas. In this age of the internet....distance really matters??? |

Clark is in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. If he hires a big name GM and then lets the GM do his job, he is criticized. If he hires and GM and meddles and gets involved and things don't go well, then he is a meddlesome Dan Snyder who should keep his nose out of the operations.

Someone needs to ask if the ownership is having trouble paying back their share of renovation money, and if that's the reason the team used tax money to pay salaries and why the team is always below the cap.

Just my opinion, but I don't know if I can fully buy in to this narrative.
I don't think you can pin this simply on the fact that ownership doesn't live in Kansas City. Lack of passion about the team? Lack of involvement with the team? Sure on both counts. But I personally don't think it matters where they live as long as they are passionate about the team they own and are involved. Especially these days with videoconferencing and the fact that both owners can easily hop on a plane. Living in Milwaukee, I think I have a pretty good perspective on this. When Bud Selig (and then his daughter) owned the Brewers, it was pretty much the same situation the Chiefs are in now. The team sucked and there was a disconnect with the fans. That was WITH local ownership. Then, Mark Attanasio bought the team and completely turned things around...despite the fact he lives in L.A. The team is competitive, attendance soared, and the fan base has grown. It doesn't matter that he lives in L.A. He's hired a very good General Manager and works closely with him. It's obvious to the fans and the city that he's involved and passionate about the team through interviews on television, in the newspaper, etc. He attends games, etc. It can be done, and Attanasio is an example. It doesn't matter where they live as long as they are involved and as passionate as the fan base. |

Jwhit is correct of course, but there's really nothing we can do. There clearly is a ton of financial upside to owning terrible pro franchises, and neither Hunt nor Glass would even consider selling.

I like the approach of just shaming these owners everywhere they go. Will it work? Maybe not, but at least it provides some measure of justice.

It doesn't matter where you live. Just because I live 560 miles away doesn't mean I'm any less of a fan than someone living in KC. I watch the games on TV too, and even attend some (like last Sunday's Baltimore game). |

Guys, I've not chimed in here, but Pioli is the most significant issue here. Fire him, all of his "decisions" go with him.
Clark gets another shot to hire a decent GM IMO, but he did consult with Marty last time, so I think everyone was caught up with Mr. Executive of the decade fanfare. Clark is an absentee owner, no doubt, but this was his first GM pick. Sure, it was a horrible pick, but I think many others would have done the same in the same situation. |
