I've bought tickets several times from Craigslist. Just make sure to say that you will meet in person somewhere. If you want a good deal, be flexible and pay cash. Try to meet them wherever and whenever it is convenient for THEM.

Most people are pretty reasonable and you won't get too many scammers willing to meet you in person. I've bought many a cheap Chiefs ticket this year from people there using this strategy.

I have not had any luck responding to "tickets available" ads. Seems like I always "just missed" the tickets. I'm guessing many of those are scammers, not wanting to actually meet in person. I always post my own "tickets needed" ad detailing what I want and let people come to me.

On a somewhat unrelated note, THIS is a pretty amusing story about scammers on Craigslist.
