Dee Ford...DPOTY?

Is it possible? He is currently tied for the league lead in sacks and has had 2 sacks taken off the board bc Tamba lined up in the neutral zone and Gaines held a WR. With the sacks off the board, he's collected 10.5 sacks in the last month which is crazy.

Peters is probably the better candidate overall, but you would figure that a pass rusher who leads the league in sacks has as good a chance as any. Teams not throwing at Peters will probably hurt his resume compared to a pass rusher.

Also keep in mind that this race is wide open this year bc JJ Watt is on IR.

What do you think?

That being said, I am loving what we are seeing from Ford. If anyone would have said in the preseason that Ford would have 10 sacks all year, they would have been laughed off the board. Yet here he is. Barely over halfway through the season and he already has 10 sacks. Playing out of position due to Houston's injury and being the primary guy that the other teams are trying to stop. I too am excited for the future. Jones is improving every game. Houston is close to being back, and Dadi Nicolas has shown flashes that make me believe that he too will be a threat soon. That is a lot of pass rushers. Reminds me of the Giants squad that beat the 18-0 Patriots in the Superbowl. They were loaded with pass rushers too. Strahan was the best one. But he wasn't the only one. Those guys just wrecked opposing offenses. They won that Superbowl. I don't care what the NFL said. Eli was NOT the MVP. Not even close.
He has 10.5 the last month. 2 of those were nullified due to stupid ass penalties by Tamba and Gaines

If he finishes with 20 sacks and the Chiefs are anywhere from 12-4 to 14-2, I'd say yes.

It's a tall order but the schedule favors the Chiefs at this time.

Agree with Dane on where he (and the Chiefs) would need to end up, but beyond the sacks check this out:

3 Tackles - 1.0 Sack - 2 TFL - 1 Pass Defensed - 2 QB Hits (at Carolina)
3 Tackles - 2.0 Sacks - 2 TFL - 0 Pass Defensed - 3 QB hits (Jacksonville)
5 Tackles - 3.5 Sacks - 3.5 TFL - 0 Pass Defensed - 4 QB hits (at Indianapolis)
1 Tackle - 0.0 Sacks - 0 TFL - 0 Pass Defensed - 0 QB hits (New Orleans)
5 Tackles - 2.0 Sacks - 1 TFL - 0 Pass Defensed - 2 QB hits (at Oakland)
6 Tackles - 0.5 Sacks - 1 TFL - 0 Pass Defensed - 1 QB hit (at Pittsburgh)
1 Tackle - 0.0 Sack - 0 TFL - 0 Pass Defensed - 0 QB hits (New York Jets)
3 Tackles - 0.0 Sack - 0 TFL - 1 Pass Defensed - 1 QB hit (at Houston)
4 Tackles - 1.0 Sack - 1 TFL - 0 Pass Defensed - 1 QB hit (San Diego)

The last three games (two on the road) Dee Ford has become a one-man wrecking crew. 11 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 7.5 tackles for loss, 1 pass defensed, and 9 QB hits. I'd be curious if there's another player in the NFL that has performed at that level this year.

I think Peters has the best chance, like he honestly might be the guy right now.

If Houston couldn't get DPOTY with 22 sacks, I don't see Ford getting it done either. I know, Watt was great in 2014, but Houston still should have been the guy IMO. Just didn't have the notoriety.

Peters is a guy who people already know around the NFL. I think he's the frontrunner right now.

So...in a restaurant after the game? And then set the restaurant on fire?

It's kind of interesting because dee ford's biggest issue is he does a lot of the small things well. I never thought I'd say that. But vote still goes to peters. Quarterbacks and coaches are adjusting their gameplan to account for peters. So while Ford does his job well, peters has been an absolute difference maker
