What drives me nuts...
When a DVR, VCR, DVD-R, TV are completely dependent upon a remote.
My youngest managed to make my DVD Recorder remote disappear and I have since discovered that my DVD Recorder is a big paperweight now only capable of playing a dvd. I can't erase them nor can I format new ones. Now I get to spend the next few weeks relying on crappy VCRs for recordings again until the remote turns up. My universal can't even control it for the functions I need. They need to stop making electronics that are dependent upon the existence of their remote control. |

already tried one. It couldn't operate this particular Sony branded recorder. Plus, I didn't even like the remote.
Plus, it would be cheaper to buy this recorder all over again than to buy the best Harmony that may or may not work with this unit.

Hmm... that's odd. I think you might just be an extra-super-rare case, because it's not usually like that.

Oh, it would operate it at the most basic level as a DVD player. It couldn't access any of the recorder functions at all.

You could try calling Sony and asking them if they have a relatively inexpensive replacement or know of a universal that will work. In the past they have usually been helpful when I have called and somewhat overplayed the brand loyalty/enjoyed their product angle.

I can get a replacement remote from other sites for around $30 so I am going to wait it out for a few weeks to see if it turns up and then probably just order one of those. Sucks being stuck with a VCR again though.

RDR GX330
Yes it is on the Harmony supported list on the Harmony website but it is not 100% supported on the 720. It only operates it as a DVD player and not the recorder options. I can program the other buttons but I need to original remote for that. Either way, I hated my harmony. It actually created more steps for me to turn things on and off plus it didn't always work. It would put me through that damn help tutorial to get a couple devices up and running. many more steps than just using my existing universal remote that came with my Onkly receiver. I have yet to find a universal remote that fully supports the recorder though.

Doesn't really help once the item is already lost. I can buy a replacement remote cheaper than that as well. Which I already did for 20 bucks. Exact same remote.
