I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what folks expect -- or even the OC. You can't run a vertical passing offense without blockers and it helps to have speed outside.

The 49ers were dominate and winning in 5 of the 8 games with Smith in 2012.

You are risk averse for good reason in those games. A 5 yard completion for a 1st down isn't much different than a 25 yard one. It is mostly about the new set of downs and clock keeps running.

I expected us to have some sort of contingency plan, where Smith is only a transition or mentor to a young, talented QBoTF with a high ceiling

I expected us to retain Albert and lock him into a long term deal instead of wasting a draft pick on a lineman..(a sideways move instead of forward).and being able to use that draft pick (the #1 overall) as the historic once in a lifetime pick that it is

Turnover differential is the #1 statistic. You know this, everyone does.

If you have the ball 5 min into the 3rd Quarter and are up 7. You are 75% likely to win the game. Even if you are starting at your 10 yard line.
