What sources? I know there was a lot of talk about Leach, but what source(s) said he was #1? And where did said source(s) get this info? I know Tait has said all along that he's speculating.

FTR, I would have been pleased with Leach.

So, KU got beat out by WSU for Leach, but the other - better - schools that need a coach and were looking at Leach were.....what? Not interested in him? Too good for him? Got beat out by WSU for him?

I never said the programs were equal and you're smart enough to know that (or not, I guess). I simply implied that "homerun" is a relative term. Neither KU nor MU are on tOSU/UT level, do you disagree?

What do you think I don't believe? I have said the following:

1. Leach, Tressel, or Meyer would be homerun hires.

2. KU can hire a different coach that turns out to be a homerun in retrospect, but it won't be considered a big coup at the time of hire.

3. Mizzou is a superior program to KU, and it's head coaching job is more attractive than KU's

I don't disagree. You could say that my son's t-ball team and the Detroit Tigers aren't on the level of the Yankees, too.

Media as in Taint and Keegan? Those two guys are trying to feed articles to sway what KU does... Seriously, Keegan's wrote 3 articles in a row titled:

"Sheahon Zenger has guts to hire Mike Leach"
"Timing right for Mike Leach"
"Hal Mumme coaching tree fruitful ... and includes Mike Leach"

As a KU fan it's sickening. The LJW is horrible and has had a putrid (at best) relationship with KU Football for a decade.

I can say for certain that these "sources" are nothing but speculation and people on the outside looking in trying desperately to just print something because it's their job. Even the folks in the Athletic Department don't know what's going on, currently.

Sure let's go ahead and lump everyone into a category because a few overzealous internet heads are doing the same thing Keegan did. They want someone to come in that has won at this level before, it's the "safest" thing. I don't want the safest thing, I want the Right thing. If it's Fedora.. if it's Christensen, if it's Doreen, that's great... I think Zenger understands this is going to be the hire that defines the rest of his career, and is making darned sure he does the best he can.

I don't know what that has to do with anything. Meyer is a homerun for tOSU. Saban would be a homerun for Texas. Leach apparently is not very homerunish for anyone given that we know both UCLA and Maryland decided to look elsewhere, possibly along with a bunch of other schools (which might include KU).

I do think you need a reality check on your program, though. If KU is your son's t-ball team, MU is the varsity team of your local Kansas high-school.
