I don't see why my familiarity or unfamiliarity with the area is relevant. I think it stands to reason that cops are going to be more aggressive toward hoodlums than non-hoodlums. Or, non-hoodlums who hang out with hoodlums and are then seen as hoodlums by association.

I was an honors student who played sports in high school. There was no hoodlum by association going on. Raytown and Independence cops were just dicks.

Why do we as a population not expect higher expectations of conduct from law enforcement? They are not private citizens, they are public servants. They are our public servants. Why don't we push for harsher sentences for crimes committed by police? Change the laws where there is no parole for crimes committed while in the line of duty. The code of silence needs to be addressed from the top down as well. In Wichita the Chief of Police just retired because his name came up on the Brady/Giglio list. Meaning he lacks credibility. I know a former WPD officer who just quit this year because of the way his fellow officers treated the public. There are good law enforcement officers out there. They are just becoming less and less each day.
