How much can be fixed
How much can we really get done in FA that will allow us to draft BAA? If we get Edgerton I'll sign in 48 hours Hartwell would shore up the LB's and if the trade for Surtain is made that takes care of the CB's. I think between Sapp or one of the safeties we can field a decent nickle and dime CB. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the safeties traded for a draft choice. Then we could draft BAA or a DE. I think Hicks will be one of the cuts this summer.

We can't do BAA, it still needs to be a DE, OLB or CB

For the Chiefs to be able to draft the BAA they would have to sign 2 CBs, 2 OLB, and 1 DE. Then it would be ok.
CB-Law/Surtain and a Hill/Edwards type OLB-Polley/Holdman etc DE-Hall/Williams |

If the rumor is true that suggests we could be close to getting Surtain and Hartwell, which I still can't believe for cap reasons, then we can start BAA in round 2. We still need a 2nd CB. I would be happy for us to look for another DE, but I don't think its going to happen. DV is satisfied with team leader Eric Hicks

A lot, actually...
Get a solid FA OLB and [2] FA CBs [Dyson-esque ability] and you can go BAA all the way. Or, you can throw Benny Sapp into the fire as your nickel, if your juevos are sufficiently grande. More likely, get a solid FA OLB, trade a pick for Surtain and draft a nickel CB in the 1st. That means you can go BAA from the 3rd [if the compensation pick chatter is valid] or 4th. xoxo~ Gaz Calculating son of a gun. |

I have a hunch that we may grab a WR in the 1st. Especially if we sign a couple more defensive FAs.

I think we only need one *veteran (not allstar)* CB, resign Fujita, sign Hartwell, trade away for Howard (with our 2nd)... Draft BAA all the way.
Too bad Hicks has locked his starting job. |

I was thinking about this earlier, and I don't really care what position we draft. That's not important. What is important is that we get production out of the players we select. We've spent the last five years trying to build a team through free agency and trading because we've been absolutely incompetent in the draft, on both sides of the ball. So whether we draft offense, defense, whatever, is irrelevant to me. We simply need to start drafting people who can make a contribution. No more first round busts, no more second round busts, no more third round picks that never amount to anything. That has to stop, now, or every offseason will be like this one, where we're looking for a MLB because Mitchell didn't pan out, or we're looking for a CB because Bartee and Battle didn't pan out. Or we're looking for a DT down the road because Downing, Freeman, Sims and Siavii aren't enough. Or more O-lineman down the road because Black and Williams don't step up. That's what's killing us, not being able to draft well on either side of the ball.
JMO of course. |

The way to fix a position is with a quality draft pick. In our case signing a CB like law or Surtain coupled with a first round CB would give us quality now and for the future. We have the chance to do this this offseason and IMO we should. PhilFree
