I'm really starting to think we are going DLine at 1.1 in the draft.
Smart to keep Jackson for another year, not having him would mean two huge holes in the DL despite all we have invested. |

My reaction is kind of meh. As long as his cap hit goes from 14 mill down to 3-4 million, I am okay with it. If it is is any higher than 4 mill, then they probably should have just cut him loose.

Better be a bargain basement price.

Jesus, what a breath of fresh air John Dorsey has been.
I have ZERO problem in saying that if Pioli were still here, the following would have/will have transpired.... - Bowe would have been let go to free agency - Albert would have been let go to free agency - Colquitt would have been franchised - Cassel would have been the starter again next season - Tyson Jackson would have played out his contract - Luke Joeckel would have been the top pick - Dorsey would have been resigned for big money You really don't have to look closely to see that those moves are just totally contrarian to everything Dorsey has done thus far (minus the Joeckel part, but I feel confident thinking he's not drafting him at this point). It is so nice to see such common sense coming from the GM of this team. It's been a long, long time since we've been able to say that. |

And no, Jackson wouldn't have played out his deal even under Pioli, nor do I think Dorsey would've been re-signed (he's not a Pioli pick). Cassel would've been on the roster with 'competition' in the form of Glennon or Nassib in the 2nd round after the surefire Joeckel pick. So very glad he's gone.

Anything more than a few mil and he's still overpaid. Then again, it's not easy to find two ends for the scheme, and they don't come cheap, so he has that in leverage. He's your LDE so it still leaves the door open for Floyd at #1 overall to play the attacking 5TRDE. Nickel rush defense with Hali-Poe-Floyd-Houston has some potential.

I'd say it's good if it's 5 million or less. If it's anything more than it probably wasn't worth it.

there is going to be a lot of people on here eating crow now that their last "hes in a 2 gap hes not asked to rush the passer" excuse will now be exposed if we move to a 1 gap and Tyson Jackson still cant rush the passer
what will the excuse be then "D-lineman need 7 years in the NFL to fully bloom to their potential?" |

numbers dont lie that hes horrible at rushing the passer, that's not asking to be proven right, but when people find excuses to defend something that's not defend-able, then it becomes a point to laugh at people for being wrong, the whole time, in this case, for four years. It has nothing to do with my thinking of "Is Tyson Jackson a bad player?" I dont think he's bad, but what I am not homer about and I am realistic is the fact that he has no pass rush ability and nor do I expect any, ever |
