Chiefs 2013 NFL Sunday Ticket + Alternatives - Page 14

I know we had this thread last year, but things change every year so I thought I'd post this.

I've been with DirecTV for about 6 years now for the Ticket, but I can't afford it anymore. So I thought I'd see what things we learn as we negotiate, work around the Ticket, and find ways to watch our Chiefs games out of market as affordable as possible.

I know there's a promotion with Madden 25. What else is there this year?

This is why I dumped cable. I will never understand a business model that involves pissing off your customers at least 2x a year.

Getting DirecTV is not an option for me so I have NFL Redzone. If you're not familiar, it basically just jumps around from game to game showing big plays/TDs. I like it but sometimes would prefer the ability to watch a single game..

Does anyone have NFL Game Rewind? I've been thinking about getting that..

I've had to call them every few months as my bill jumped from $90 to near $150. Told them I was cancelling the Sunday ticket package but the rep told me if I kept it on there I would receive a promotional discount for Sunday ticket in June that would only cost me $150 for the season. I told him to leave it there then as I was ok paying that. Got my June bill and the promotional rate was near $250. Called DTV and they bounced me around saying they don't even have that as a promotional rate so no idea how I got quoted that. I told them that every time I call they state that all calls are monitored for quality assurance and that they need to go back and listen to my conversation. The guy told me they couldn't do that! I asked to speak to a manager and told her the same thing. It caught her off-guard that I asked them to listen to my previous call so she just credited my account and I'll be getting Sunday Ticket for $150 even though they supposedly don't offer that rate.

Just another wasted hour on the phone to these dumbasses.

If Sunday Ticket goes elsewhere, so will I.

It's a million times tougher to get discounts compared to 2 years ago.

I'm sure the AT&T sale hasn't helped matters either.

The whole cable/satellite model is so outdated. Just let customers subscribe to channels they want either streaming or through cable. Ridiculous that you have to pay for so many channels you don't want

I'm thinking of giving it a spin this season. I, like you, have the Redzone and enjoy watching that. I'm a former DTV customer for over a decade and won't give them another cent. Bastards.

Jfc . I just switched to direct tv for Sunday ticket and then I came to this thread and all of your stories are slightly horrifying. Lmao. I guess I will find out in due time. For now it is saving me about 50 bucks over Verizon. But next year it'll be about the same price after the promo period runs out. I think I am willing to put up with the bullshit to be able to watch the chiefs in hd instead of streaming it on Eastern European websites . Haha
