Rookie QB coach?
I have seen a lot of discussions on here questioning which QB would be the best one to draft (Wilson, Smith, or Barkley). I think one aspect that needs to be taken into consideration is who on our coaching staff has the ability to develop a young QB? It wouldn't matter who was drafted if we don't have a strong QB coach that can help a rookie QB through all the trials and tribulations of being a rookie.
I don't have any confidence in this staff to do so. One of the things I am impressed with on the 49ers staff is that Harbaugh wasn't afraid to bring along his OC from Stanford. Fresh talented position coaches and coordinators can really help energize a team. Who is out there that we should pursure irregardless of which QB we draft? |

Actually, David Shaw was Jim Harbaugh's OC at Stanford, while Greg Roman was his asst. HC.

I just like that Harbaugh brought in his own people. People he has been successful with in the past. It would be nice if we took a chance on a successful college coach and allowed him to bring in his own staff and philosophy.

A guy like Chip Kelly basically absorbed Oregon's old coaching staff into his own. Nothing wrong with that at all, in fact, it might be a refreshing positive that the Chiefs bring in a coach with no real strong unbreakable loyalties to other coaches. That's the sign of a guy who can sell his product and his system to other coaches, get them to work on the same page, and be highly successful without the necessity that he only work with "his guys."
