Branden Albert trade won’t happen unless he lowers his price

Branden Albert trade won’t happen unless he lowers his price

Branden Albert AP

The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

Joeckel is more technically sound. However Fisher is nasty is has major upside. Its easier to teach footwork and hand placement than physicallity.

I'd be happy ****ing over the Bills and Jets if we used it to trade up to get Nassib.

Admittedly, I've been pimping Nassib for quite some time and am higher on him than most, so there's that to account for.

I've been reading that he's very intelligent. I like him, probably not as much as you though.

He jumps of the back foot in the drop. I don't think he's very good in the pocket subtleness so to speak.

But I do like him.

I'd really love to trade down to 4 with the Eagles, take Fisher or joeckel there, use the 2 extra 2nd rounders to get back up high enough to take our guy Sheldon.

I've been hearing good things about Nassib, plus I like the fact that his name sounds mid-east which would piss off all the redneck TF's. I also like Bray for his possible development and confirmed douchiness. I see potential here.

I'd rather have Barkley frankly. I'm just not high on Nassib. I don't like a guy that doesn't seem comfortable in the pocket. I don't know why, but that seems like a hard thing to teach.

No heres a scenario. Its a risky one but one that Dorsey could be a ****ing genius and still get Fisher and Geno.

We might not have a second round pick.

Since more than likely early second round is where qbs will be going.

People are now saying if Geno gets past Jax he will slide into the second round.

We use that second round pick with a later round pick and trade into the bottom of the first and draft our man Geno Smith!!

I really love his ability to set, slide/shift/shrug, then re-set and throw. Edit: the 0:40 mark is a good example.

He did it consistently this year. Here's one game of it.

Additionally, I love that his release is high/over the top, and snappy. Great velocity on the ball. Needs to work on his touch though quite a bit.

Great, so not only piss away the 1-1 on a tackle, but the 2nd on ****ing Nassib.

Hmmm Geno and Albert or Joke and Nassib. Jeeeez that's a tough call.
