Mock (3/10/13)
Assumptions:
1. The Chiefs let Dorsey walk and cut Cassel. 2. The Chiefs sign DE Mike DeVito. 2. They get one compensatory pick, an extra third (Carr). 3. The Chiefs try furiously to trade down, but there are no takers. On with the show: 1. QB Geno Smith, West Virginia I just don't see how you draft any position in the draft if you don't plan on starting them right away. And with Robinson at CB, and DeVito at DE, and Albert back on for another year... where on earth do you go? You can go with a right tackle, or you can go with a QB that you're happy to bench for a year or two. 3. WR Robert Woods, USC Smooth route runner, his stats betray his ability and he would be a smart change of pace from the amazingly gifted, boneheaded, shitty route runner we have in Baldwin. 3. ILB Arthur Brown, Kansas State Tough as nails and loves to hit. Much needed next to Derrick Johnson. 4. S Robert Lester, Alabama A bigger, stiffer safety, the Chiefs finally can move Berry to free safety and give Lester a test run at the power stopper position. 5. OT Jordan Mills, Louisiana Tech A badly needed swing tackle. 6. CB Brandon McGee, Miami 4.4 speed, let the coaches attempt to turn him into quality depth. 7. QB Jordan Rodgers, QB, Vanderbilt Aaron Rodgers' brother. Why not. |

You obviously like Brown, but I'm not too sure that he translates well into a 34 MLB after playing outside at K-State at around 225 lbs. He only bulked up to the 240 weight after the season and I don't think he's got the frame to carry anymore than that and he'll probably end the season back at around 220. That's not the guy you want plugging the run in the 34.
I also think you'll want to keep Berry at strong safety as he has yet to show a proclivity against the pass in the NFL while excelling against the run. His college numbers, particularly his interceptions seem, at this point, to be a product of Kiffin's cover 2 and his freakish athleticism versus true pass ball skills. He's been continually beaten in pass coverage time and time again during his stint with the Chiefs, but has been an absolute warrior against the run. That's a natural strong safety in my eyes. |

I like La Tech's QB better than Vandy's but I love that you dropped Nassib.
