Look at all of the earthquakes in Arkansas recently.

It fits with my theory that New Madrid goes big by the end of May.

I've noticed that Arkansas is having 5-10 earthquakes a day... albeit ones under 4.0.

That New Madrid fault is no longer asleep.

Yea that's not going to be good when/if it happens, given that you've got no building codes for earthquake resistance and it's built on loose soil, liquefaction is going to be bad.

Personally I've seen a number of earthquakes around here and mostly I think tornadoes to some degree are worse. Why they are much more frequent and you know they are coming. Earthquakes are far more regional damage, but mostly if you're ****ed you're ****ed withing the first minute.

Now there are exceptions especially on loose soil and I think this happens more in socal, but you can get reflections in loose soil that makes the shaking last longer than if you are on bedrock.

My overall rule is still shit happens...I'm FAR more likely to die everytime I get in my car but you don't see me freaking out about that daily.

I do not believe the United States could survive as a nation were one of these to hit now. The final death toll would be in the millions and the economic losses would be incalculable.

I assume you are referring to the caldera Yellowstone sits upon and not the geyser, which erupts several times a day with little to no impact on the surrounding area.

But yes, Yellowstone would be worse. If bad enough, that could possibly destroy human civilization.
