Any further replies to your post are subject to scrutiny, should you exhibit what we would deem the existence of any possibility that you, or anyone associated with you, will jump off the Chiefs bandwagon without due course. This post will now be forwarded to a moderator.

Since there was absolutely nothing about it in the local media at the time (and believe me, if TG said in no uncertain terms he wanted to leave, it would be all over the KC media...), I'd imagine there's not a whole lot to it. The impression I got is that he was talking about how much he loved living on the west coast, which was of course his home..., and not really saying "I want to jump ship to the Raiders" or anything like that...

Hitman,
I did not hear the Tony interview, only heard some people on the other board talking about it, so I don't really know what was said or in what context. But I did e-mail Jeffrey Flanagan about it, and here is what he said: Q: Jeffrey, You're usually on top of these things, have you heard anything about Tony Gonzalez desiring to go back to California instead of resigning with the Chiefs when he becomes a free agent? There's been talk on the Star BB that he mentioned his desires to go back to a bigger market on the West Coast when he became a free agent on The Last Word with Jim Rome a month or so back when they were discussing the Chris Webber situation in Sacramento. I know we can franchise him, but I would hate to have another athlete who would prefer to persue the glitz of other markets and dis K.C. Have you heard anything about this? A:
What I've heard about Tony is that he's very happy here and he's really excited about Dick Vermeil and his increased role in the offense. Tony also is extremely active in the community, which is a sign he likes the city, too.
Hope that helps. |

Just joking with you, that's all. You know, I read response to this question on the other BB quite a while ago, and from all the discussion that was presented,
almost everyone said that Rome (as he tends to do) was trying to get Gonzo to flat-out admit he wanted out of K.C. The only thing that Tony said in return, based on information that I can remember, is that he is "entertaining" the thought of exploring free-agency, and to be closer to the west coast...because he went to college there, and he wants to maybe pursue acting (not seriously, but once and a while). Now while the red-flags may be flying all over the place, in our defence, he apparantly said he loves K.C, and the fans, and would like to be a part of this team winning a Superbowl. My honest opinion is that he's going to see how this season plays out under Vermeil and with Green as QB. |

Memo to Hitman: Sarcasm runs amok on this board.
You have just had a good taste of it from me. Maybe the New York thing has dulled your senses a bit. |

Hitman,
No prob dude. You are a part of the Chiefs family, and I gotta take care of family! :) But don't get too happy, remember, football is a business. Ultimately what will determine whether or not Gonzo wants to stay here is if we win or not. If we don't start winning ballgames, he may not want to be around. And if Carl decides to play hardball with him, talking about average TE salaries and all that crap, instead of looking at him as the gamechanging force he is, we may have problems. Until he is resigned, I am not breathing any easier... |

DaWolf...I'm kind of concerned too, seeing how the league has become so corporate, and although it has made strides NOT to do so, I feel that the NFL is now pushing its stars to be in larger markets, for ultimate media exposure. Let's hope that's not the case with Gonzalez.
