The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

I disagree. Keep BA at LT this year. Fisher at RT. BA isn't going to dog it and be the suck at LT because his $$ value would go way down. If he holds out he gets nothing and Fisher moves to LT and KC can plug in a RT.

Unless Arizona or some other club comes up with a too good to pass offer. 54 isn't good enough especially after Miami took a crap on KC by letting the Raiders trade up while not getting the points value they were supposed to get. That's an insult.

Besides, Miami dealt with our most hated rival and is forcing KC to take the 54. I say screw them and let them play without a proper LT. Bottom line KC needs Albert for at least one more year. Next year KC can either franchise him again or let him go and get the 3rd but at least they will be able to FA a LT, trade BA or be in a positon to draft a RT and move Fisher over. I don't know why you guys want to let him go to Miami for 54. He's more valuable on the team.

As far as the "cancer in the locker room theory gooes" Reid brings him in and tells him to keep his mouth shut and play Football. He will.

Totally agree. Brandon Albert said he was worth more than the Chiefs were willing to pay. Miami agreed to his worth. WHY then should the Chiefs have to settle for the lesser of the two picks when the player and his new team valued him higher than the rest of the league apparently did?
