here's what I know about these playoffs

Colin Kaepernick and Russel Wilson, ladies and gentleman.

These two are top 5 QB's.

My 2013 top 5:

Brady, Kaep, Wilson, Rodgers and ? (either Peyton, Eli, or Brees)

but I'd take those first four over anyone in 2013, I just don't know who I'd take.

Put it like this, that last play took 6 seconds (Julio caught the ball with 2 seconds on the clock and clock expired when he fell). That was a play where Ryan took a 5 step drop and floated the ball 30 yards. A 5 yard out with a 3 step drop takes much less time.

You argue some of the dumbest things.

He needed to throw the ball 65 yards. He'd need to throw it 60 if your scenario played out and it was executed and still left a second or 2 on the clock (which isn't a definite).

Is 5 ****ing yards in that scenario really a big deal? No, it isn't. They set up a hook and ladder play that didn't materialize...it's still a 1% play from the 40 or from the 45.

today? I'll be honest. I think it is pretty flukey they lost this game. Ryan played hurt on 3rd and 4th down and they could have easily called a PI as well as Douglas not pwnign himself when he broke wide open.

Absolutely.

But if they picked up the 1st down at the end they would have won that game...and they would have left no time on the clock.

So yeah, Mike Smith definitely needs to look in the mirror and they need to figure out their defense, no doubt. He needs to be a better coach. I don't understand how these teams don't have quality control coaches that are in charge of having these scenarios in place...

I just don't get how Madden players are better clock managers than real life NFL coaches. It's baffling.

The NFL is incredibly insular. Moreso than other sports. I think that most decisions are driven by tradition than intelligence. Look at how fourth downs are treated.

I also think that the sideline is so hectic that it overwhelms coaches.

I actually thought about writing an email to Bill Simmons to tell him that all teams need a Time Coordinator in addition to OCs and DCs. The TC should be in charge of all TOs and would tell the OC to relay to the QB appx when the ball should be snapped or whether to call two plays at once rather than clocking the ball, etc.

I'll take a hail mary over a hook and ladder any day of the week. Ryan must have been hurt and that's why they didn't try it.
