This deserves its own thread at this point. Both major forecast models are calling for 8+ inches of snow in the KC metro again.

Look how much it dies after hitting KS/MO too.

The GFS has some problems. The EURO runs soon, so we'll get a better idea then.

But NAM and GFS are both hitting KC...

Naw, that would be this one, Snow Depth, but regardless the model backed off a bit.

The new model backed off considerably but did not lessen the total precip much, which probably means it's cutting into the snowfall totals with rain and freezing rain.

So wait, I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly. KC went from expecting 20+ inches of snow to now like 6?

No one was forecasting that much; the model just was showing that. It was always going to come down.

Here is what Gary Lezak at KSHB 41 is calling for. This is additional snow on top of whats already on the ground.

This is quite strong and I am very impressed with how this is developing.

Denver, Dodge City, Gage, Wichita, and Kansas City are in the direct path of the heaviest snow
There will likely be extremely high snowfall totals with some areas getting between 1 and 2 feet with locally higher totals
Thunderstorms with snow are likely in the heaviest spots
The track will come more into focus later tonight and Monday

This is a dangerous and high impacting storm system that will create many problems. The temperatures are going to be closer to 32 degrees which will increase the water content in the snow, and it will be a heavily weighted snow compared to the last storm.

When is this thing supposed to really get going? Weather Channel says tomorrow is just a wintry mix with most of the snow starting tomorrow night.
