Disappointed in McCluster

Bla bla bla, he's a playmaker, he has two touchdowns already, whatever.

He has seven catches for 93 yards. 1/3 of that yardage came on one play. At least two of those are screen passes I believe.

That ****ing sucks.

This guy needs to be a threat as a WIDE RECEIVER. He hasnt made a single play down the field. I'm not even talking 20 yards. How about 10? How about coming off the line, putting your foot in the ground, getting open and giving Cassel a target?

I'm not willing to accept the idea that Cassel is so god awful he makes all our wide receivers look terrible.

McCluster hasn't done shit yet. And he was utter garbage in Indy.

Don't buy any of his ****ing t-shirts.

Our offense would be beastly with Bowe, Breaston, Baldwin, Ford, Graham and Charles.

You can legitimately call that the best group of skill position players in the league. Graham is going to be a Pro Bowl tight end.

Or, if they pick Mike Williams instead of Ford, the Chiefs can pass on Baldwin in this year's draft and take Phil Taylor and solidify nose tackle.

Dominos.

That is just guys taken in the 2nd and 3rd round.

Pioli screwed the pooch on that pick.

If you take Jimmy Graham instead of McCluster you can spend the Moeaki pick on Mike Williams or Jacoby Ford and you have a much stronger draft.

Who cares? McCluster is a horrible pick....hindsight is one thing but there are 15 ****ing players drafted near McCluster who would have been a better choice. That's freaking awful.

McCluster is the Kris Wilson of the Pioli regime. Except that McCluster won't last eight years in this league.

That's a great comparison. McBuster is exactly that.

Which is bullshit Clay...

You know good and well that at that time you couldnt gurantee that those 15 players would be better...

Your are reaching for your agenda and conviently using hindsight as a crutch..

Why does that matter?

It's Pioli's job to draft the right players.

He could have thrown a dart at a board of 15 players and come away with a better pick.

We're talking about the highest paid GM in the league, he's supposed to be THE BEST at this shit.

heh, every team misses on players. every team. You dont think there are fans out there that wish the Saints had taken better defensive players? The Saints defense is not very good. Of course, having a truly great QB disguises alot of shortcomings. *cough* Colts*cough*

This is not a valid excuse.

Pioli missed on just about everyone in 2009, in 2010 he screwed up an extremely high pick and this year's rookie crop honestly looks like shit. I'm trying to think of ONE PLAY any rookie has made for this team.

That's more than just missing on a player or two. That's awful.

Yeah okay Claythan... Agian you are just doing your normal "look at me" bullshit agenda...

Its every GM's job to draft the "right players" not just Pioli's You are trying to hard to make this personal and childish... Which is your normal act. But its reality and life. Not all choices in life are the right ones.

You fail at life and life choices just like Pioli failed to pick a better player in your opinion...

You really arent this immature in life are you?

I was a fan of Benn, but I would have rather had Clausen or Mays at 2A. I would have had no issues with Benn.

I wanted Graham badly, and drafted him in the CP Mock.

The problem with the McCluster pick is the same problem with the Tyson Jackson pick: you reached for an overvalued player who was going to play a position of low impact when you had gaping holes all over the roster.

Now, Graham looks like a top 5 TE, but Mays and Clausen are pretty clearly headed towards bust status.

Agreed, BUT here's the point. With a team that had as many needs as KC did back then, you do not draft a part time player that early. The idea is to get a sarter in round 2. No matter how anyone spins it, McCluster was never going to be an every-down player, he was a luxury that KC should not have went after at the time. He might have been worth it to a team with less needs. Just my take...

And we would be having the same discussion with different players...

Whats the difference?

There's a difference between making a consensus decision that is wrong and trying to prove to everyone that you are the smartest guy in the room, taking someone who was on no one's radar, and having them flame out.

The difference is that between Trezelle Jenkins and Ryan Sims.

You can't blame Peterson for whiffing on Sims when everyone else thought he was a great pick. That's the variable nature of the draft. The Jenkins pick however, although 20 spots later, is one of the worst in the history of the draft.

Do you think Pioli has done a good job in the draft?

Let's take a look at his top 9 picks, the picks you HAVE to hit on to build a long-term successful franchise through the draft.

Tyson Jackson - turning into a mediocre defensive end. Terrible pick.
Matt Cassel - single-handedly holding back the entire franchise.
Alex Magee - enormous bust.

Eric Berry - stud
Dexter McCluster - enormous bust.
Javier Arenas - good player.

Jonathan Baldwin - can't get on the field
Rodney Hudson - can't get on the field
Justin Houston - disappointing thus far.

If you count this year's class, Pioli is batting .222 on top three picks through three drafts. He's 2 for 9, and those two players are a nickel corner and a safety on IR.

Impressive.
