Chiefs Met With Aaron Murray Last Night

Figured I would post this in it's own thread for the people who don't check the Aaron Murray super-thread. Intriguing...

Chiefs reportedly meet with Georgia QB Aaron Murray

April 16

By TEREZ A. PAYLOR

The Kansas City Star

First up, Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray has his pro day today. In a profile of Murray, USA Today’s Jim Corbett writes that the Chiefs met with him Tuesday night.

First of all, I’m not sure how much I’d read into it. Chiefs general manager John Dorsey believes in being thorough, so I believe they’ve conducted interviews with most of the prospects you’ve heard about. And last I heard, Tyler Bray was exactly what the Chiefs thought he would be last season, which is a good thing. But he still needs a big offseason to continue his progression.

In all, I think Murray could be an intriguing pick in the later rounds. He’s small (barely over 6 feet tall), his arm strength isn’t great and his deep-ball accuracy could stand to improve, but I’ve read that he’s a smart guy with good intangibles who tends to make good decisions with the football. Those are some of the traits you seek in a quarterback if you’re running the West Coast offense.

I would imagine the Chiefs will consider him if he's still there in round 3.

I like him enough in rd 3 or 4, but I don't like KC spending a pick on a QB when they already have so few picks.. and have so many needs to fill. If they could trade back from 23 and add a 3rd, then maybe it would sit better with me. Otherwise.. focus on WR, DB, OG, and rush LB.

It's more than that. Aaron Murray and Matt Stafford are two talent arms that looked terrible in Georgia's joke of an offense. I never really saw Murray improve while he was at Georgia, and it doesn't seem like that's because of work ethic. I could easily see this guy being the Chiefs' version of Nick Foles.

Because a proven strategy for draft success is to draft based on need. Rather than BPA.

You didn't watch many UGA games. He certainly improved each year. His senior year he was quite good. Injuries just killed them this year.

Up until last year I wanted no part of the guy. I wouldn't mind us taking him now.

He improved, but there just seem to be mechanics that are off. I just don't like the Georgia offense and don't think they're good at coaching QBs. I think Murray has really good upside and would benefit from better coaching.

Either way, I would love to have Murray in Red and Gold. I think this guy has the possibilities to be a great one, in my opinion.

Pick him up as a free agent to give Bray some incentive to keep working hard. Part of the first cut downs.
