Did the use of "Q" to indicate a repost start here, or is it more widely spread? I can't recall seeing it anywhere else, but there have been many other internet thingamajigs around here that have ended up being pretty well-used around the internet.

I believe it's a CP-only thing.

The tradition was to play the game of starting with R

Etc.

We got pretty close one time and then some poster ruined it by putting a Q down instead of the next letter

It started as repost, then became the letters of REPOST spread over multiple posts.

Then some people deliberately started screwing up the REPOST series by posting Q.

Then, people dropped everything and just went with Q.

It is a ChiefsPlanet phenomenon.

It started here.

Whenever someone would repost, someone would post "R", and the next person would post "E", and the next person would post "P", and so on until the word REPOST was spelled in successive posts. However, that never happened because someone would come along and type something that wasn't an R, E, P, O, S, or T. One time it got all the way to R E P O S with no interrupting posts. However, some genius individual posted "Q". That made REPOSQ and it was hilarious. Over time, reposq was shortened to Q.

That is the story of Q.
