Casey Printers signs with the Chiefs..

Casey Printers is headed to the NFL.

MOJO radio in Vancouver is reporting that Printers has signed a three-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Printers would not talk about financial terms of the deal.

Printers was the CFL MVP in 2004 when he threw for 5,088 yards with 35 touchdowns and only ten interceptions. He was also second on the team with 469 rushing yards and led the Lions with nine rushing touchdowns.

Despite struggling with shoulder and toe injuries in 2005 Printers managed to throw for 1,676 yards and nine touchdowns with six interceptions. He also ran for 336 yards on just 38 attempts for an average of 8.8 yards per carry to go along with two rushing touchdowns.
I'm a Canadian living up in Toronto, and I've watched this guy play the last few years on the B.C Lions. He's a great QB, and took B.C. to the finals agaisnt the Argos a few years ago. I was very surprised to hear the news, though as he was reportedly looking for a starting job in Miami and Detroit, and didn't want to sit on the bench. Obviously, he won't be starting here next year, but he must have been promised some kind of chance at the top spot after Green leaves (which should be after this year or the next). I guess he'll be our #2 QB next year, and he'd be definitely one of the best backups in the league.

Yes, and does anyone know if we've ever had a red-headed Mexican signal-caller?

Question: is Printers eligible to go to the NFL Europe or not? I'm just not sure how the NFL come up with the rules on that situation. Just looking for answers, that's all.

Does anybody remember the few days of Rickey Ray fever we had here - then got disappointed when he signed with the Jets? Well he was on their practice squad and then was dropped and, I assume, is now back in the Crap Football League up north.

Eh, not really. Green is probably only an inch taller and can't weigh much more.

I'm from Vancouver and am a huge KC Chiefs fan. I may not post much but I read the Planet daily and follow the Chiefs religiously. I have watched Casey Printers play here for the BC Lions and can tell you that we have a bona fide QBOTF in Casey Printers. It'll be fun seeing him be our starter in 2007 as he will need at least the year to learn the NFL game.

I don't think he's as polished a thrower as a Warren Moon but believe he is more like a Steve Young "style of player"....good arm and great scrambler. If he became as good as Steve Young that would be all bonus.

Well im from BC, and we dont say 'eh' or 'aboot' but I guess you can still keep going on about that. Anyways, Casey is a great QB and if I were him I would probably try my chances in the NFL as well. BC Lions management is a joke for making Printers backup after he had won MVP. Seems most of you arent too thrilled with the signing though, but I watched all of the Lions game and he kinda plays like Mike Vick but has a better throw. Just wait he'll surprise you with what he can do, be happy guys you'll love him. Now we're stuck with an old Dave Dickenson.
