Clark Hunt hired the best(Pioli) and paid for the best (weis/Crennel) and he allowed Pioli to do what he wanted.

Things we don't know

1. did Hunt put limits on FA money? (i doubt it, considering how much money the chiefs are giving their existing players)

2. did Hunt tell Pioli to be more aggressive in FA (i doubt it, it's just not the Hunt family style)

Not much more you can ask of an owner ... this is on Pioli

$30M under the cap for how many years? And that's not on the owner? I'm pretty sure if they were stocking up coin for a one-year run, he'd be willing to elaborate a bit...

But I respect you opinion too.

Oh, but let's not forget, the Hunt "style" is to never win enough...

i imagine most of that 30 million is going to be gone by the end of the year into contracts for existing players.

Don't get me wrong, the Hunt's are businessmen. They are here to make money 1st and win 2nd. The only reason Peterson was around for so long was because he was raking coin for the Hunt family. I just don't think that that is the case right now.

You don't know the facts. Let me help you.

Go to this link then scroll the years and explain where salary = winning.

http://content.usatoday.com/sportsda...ries/team/2009

Teams are up and down all over the place. KC was #5 in 2007, what did that get us in wins? Cleveland was #4 in 2008, how did that work out? The Raiders were #1 in 2008.

Teams go up and down depending on salaries going on or off the books.

Middle of the pack is where KC is most years, lower recently.

Teams at the top aren't necessarily winners, more not than are.

You want to bitch about Cassel getting $60MM go for it. Want to bitch about the Kendrell Bell contract? Cool. Bitch about T-Jack, go for it.

Look at NE during the SB years and see where they rank.

It isn't about $ spent it is about how you spend it.

It's how you spend the $$$$$$$$. Period.

Look at recent extensions signed by KC players. They are locking up players for decent $. Smart business.

For the last 42 years their spending habits have been a real peach!!! Period!!!

He's a loser, even if he's rich. He's a joke at owners meetings, and since he's ONLY concerned about money, he just laughs all the way to the bank.

So you didn't look at the link and see what the salary cap history is. OK.

I did.. And what I saw was that A), its most recent year is 2009/10, B) in 2009 and 2008 they were the bottom, and C) in 2007 they were "up there".

What's your point? The bottom line is they're cheap.

Here are 2009/10's top spenders... Some didn't work out, but the rest are in pretty good company.

And we were at ~$82M... Nice!

New York Giants $ 138,354,866 $ 2,470,622 $ 890,000 $ 3,718,306
Miami Dolphins $ 126,383,421 $ 2,256,846 $ 978,290 $ 3,206,135
Houston Texans $ 122,258,610 $ 2,037,643 $ 848,640 $ 3,159,274
New Orleans Saints $ 121,552,424 $ 1,992,662 $ 870,000 $ 2,580,010
Chicago Bears $ 120,672,110 $ 2,154,859 $ 820,616 $ 3,353,848
New York Jets $ 120,634,420 $ 2,079,903 $ 762,750 $ 2,776,685
Pittsburgh Steelers $ 119,292,960 $ 2,056,775 $ 792,500 $ 2,761,268
San Diego Chargers $ 117,458,935 $ 2,025,154 $ 927,880 $ 3,540,888
Green Bay Packers $ 113,959,603 $ 1,931,518 $ 812,500 $ 2,647,804

The bottom line is throwing $ around is not the way to win.

Spending smart $ is.

Where NE on that list or the Steelers?

Also we are not at $82MM after signing Flowers. Others to come.

Smart $ is where it is at. We spent years throwing $ at FA players who never panned out.

We also paid big $ to DT, TG, Priest, LJ, Shields, etc......

By your logic Washington and Oakland should have won 3 SB's by now.

BTW, the Bears are $30MM under the cap this year, it was a big discussion on ESPN radio today when they talked about Cutler being sacked 11 times already and their line sucking.
