Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

I haven't changed my stance. I stated in January that I felt Mahomes would be a great pick for the Chiefs but that they'd need to move up to get him.

Several people in this forum said they wouldn't touch before the 3rd round because he's so raw.

Since the Chiefs drafted him and it's close to training camp, people are suddenly saying that he should be the starter this year, that's he's pushing Alex Smith or that he should start after the Bye.

There isn't one person that watched his film or scouted him that thought there was any possibility that he'd be "ready" to play in 2017.

But Chiefsplanet.

There's FAR more to the QB position than having a great arm.

And Mahomes is in his infancy learning the position.

I started a thread that the Chiefs needed to trade up to 10 a month or two before the draft to get the QB they wanted.

I have many times in this thread. I don't need to keep repeating myself.

You don't agree. I get it. I'm fine with it. It's okay to disagree. Even if you don't think so.

Wow, that's really prescient.

You advocated that the Chiefs trade up less than 20 days from draft day but you didn't say for whom.

Also, everything else in your post was incorrect. The "run" on QB's started at #2 overall, Cleveland didn't trade for Garopollo, Arizona didn't take a QB, the Saints didn't take a QB, neither did Washington.

But once again, you've changed your opinion since Mahomes was drafted.

Silliness abounds.

My stance on Mahomes as far as when he should start and what not is that I believe the evidence suggests that it may be a very bad idea to start him this year or rush him into the position before he is ready. I'd rather put Bray in there...

However, I love reading that he wants to take Alex's position ASAP. I don't think he should start if anything happens to Smith...but it's nice hearing/reading things that indicate that he has competitive side that is apparently so prevalent that he wants to take Alex's job this year.

Just showing you weren't alone on the trade up. I was in on Watson/Mahomes or Mahomes/Watson. I didn't care which way.

Personally, I love the kid and I think he has the ability to a superstar.

But it's going to take time and that's okay.

In the meantime, there will be people screaming for him at the top of kings when Alex makes a bad play but I think Alex can handle it.

There's nothing wrong with an 11-5 or 12-4 record while grooming the next QB.
