49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Alot of Niner fans don't. I live in nor cal and they just go with whatever the team is doing. They are mostly bandwagon watchers. Fans of the team but not interested when they aren't doing well and when they are it's niners all day. It's quite funny. Say what u want about the raiders. But their fans are hardcore. Suck or not.

Herm was an absolutely terrible HC but a damned good talent scout.

He'd make a good consultant/head of scouting...

Herm was the worst game day coach the world has ever known. It's amazing that he could even get the team bus to the stadium, so I wouldn't want him back in that capacity at all. I'd much rather have a semi-rotten pumpkin as our coach.

His 2008 draft was definitely top-notch, and his first-rounders in 2006 and 2007 were certainly good, but there wasn't much behind them. So was 2008 a grand fluke or is that record overall successful? I can be convinced either way, but there's no denying that his first-round picks were good.
