Chiefs Jackie Battle vs Le'Ron McClain

What do you see these two players role being next year assuming Charles comes back healthy? I don't see either as a great short yardage back, or being our every down back - and I see Battle as more of a special team player if anything. I like both players well enough that I hope to see both of them in Chiefs uniform next season, but will McClain even be back?

McClain came in on a one year contract, he won't be back.

I don't think McClain will be back. He wants to be more than a blocker. We used him in that role primarily. I see him going to a team that will give him a more active role in the offense.

McClain deserves to be back. He's a pretty decent fullback (who cares if he's good or bad at running the ball).

Battle, in my opinion, is purely here for special teams. He's fine to have if you have Adrian Peterson. He's not worth it if you don't. Because he's not good enough in short yardage (and it's not just bad blocking). And he doesn't have potential to be a primary back.

I could see them both gone.

We couldn't seem to get good use out of McClain. And I believe Battle's roster spot is going to a new RB

I liked McClain's passion... Dude looked like he actually gave a damn on what was going on out on the field. Seemed like a decent blocker, and really would have liked to see him run the ball a little more.

I honestly think we screwed the pooch not giving McClain more carries.

I think he's far more effective as a runner than Battle, McCluster or Jones.

Both gone, if I have my way.

I had high hopes for McClain, but he didn't seem to pan out as a blocker or a runner. Catching passes out of the backfield isn't enough of a contribution.

Battle played small all too often, IMO.

I don't think his blocking was good at all. Certainly not as good as a fullback's blocking should be in an ideal world.

When McClain was finally used and used correctly (under Crennel's leadership) he was effective. I'd keep him as long as he's given some carries and used correctly. I thought he was an effective blocker, runner and reciever.

I think we draft a running back pretty high this year, upper half of draft. So, I don't know that either will have a spot secured, of the two... I'd say Battle because of his ST play.
