I have a bunch saved up and have been thinking about getting a second PS4 but something keeps stopping me. I have to fight my kids for time on my own TV and to play games so I figured getting a second one for the basement might be a good idea. yet, here I am waffling on whether it is worth it for something I only play on weekends. The one major benefit would be the ability to play multiplayer games with my two oldest boys.

Guess my question is this, can you convince me to not go this route and pick up a Wii U or Xbone? Not really wanting to take on another yearly online expense with xbone and was never a fan of the Wii.

Sooooooo, GO.

Sounds like you have already made up your mind. Get whatever YOU will use the most and get the most enjoyment out of.

If I had made up my mind I wouldn't have made this post.

So basically you're going to get a 2nd PS4 so that you won't get to play either one? Because you know that the 2nd boy will just go down and play that one.

No, the main TV one would be offlimits when I'm in the room if I go that route.

Just discovered today that the eject button my ps4 no longer works. But at least I can still use the controller to eject.

You would need another membership regardless on ms or sony to play at the same time on 2 machines.

WE would? Hmmm, hadn't really considered that. so even if my profile is live on both machines only one of them would recognize my PS+ membership?

Shit, you are correct...

Quote:
PlayStation 4
You can activate one PS4™ on your Sony Entertainment Network account (this is known as your Primary PS4) and temporarily activate a second PS4 on your account.

PlayStation Plus benefits available to other non-subscribing users on your Primary PS4:

Online multiplayer (subject to any parental control settings on sub-accounts)
Play downloaded games purchased with PlayStation Plus discount
Play downloaded IGC games

PlayStation Plus benefits not available to other users on your Primary PS4:

Purchasing PlayStation Plus discounted products from PlayStation Store
Online game save storage
Auto patch download
PlayStation Plus exclusive early access to game trials

PlayStation Plus benefits available to you on a non-subscribing friend’s PS4:

All of your PlayStation Plus membership benefits are available to you when you use a friend’s PS4.

When you sign into your Sony Entertainment Network on a friend’s PS4 the system is temporarily activated on your account. Please ensure that you correctly sign-out of “PSN” on your friend’s system to keep your account secure.

If your “PSN” account is inactive on your friend’s PS4, the system will be deactivated automatically from your account and your friend will lose access to any of your downloaded content. This content can be deleted from their system hard drive by going to Image (Settings) > System Storage Management > Applications. Next, highlight the game to delete and press Options > Image (X button).
Well this changes things for me quite drastically.

Other part is, while you can your ps4 games on your own console. You could play different games on wii or ms. If you play a lot of 1st party games.

The two reasons I was considering a second PS4 were to free up our first one for me but to also play online with my kids at the same time. That online thing, or lack thereof, is a big deterrent now.

I am generally a first party gamer. Don't generally like the games that are multiplatform. I guess what it comes down to now is whether I could have fun with the xbox without online or the Wii U.

I haven't really enjoyed a Mario title since SMB2 on the original NES. But even that one I was never able to finish. One of my real problems with Nintendo games is the fact I get stuck and eventually just give up because I get tired of playing the same level over and over again.

With Xbox I'm concerned about basically having the same issues as the previous gen. The 360 really burned me due to lack of quality control.

nah, mines a different issue. Seems to be working again today though. We just eject it via the controller when it doesn't work. I'll eventually send it in since we have two more years on the warranty service.
