2013 Chiefs Season Prediction -- Too early?

Early I know -- we haven't yet seen reports of them practicing in pads, but there is so little going on with Chiefs news, yet I am beginning to get some idea of how this season can shake out for the Chiefs. And contrary to Clayton's 0 - 16 prediction and claims Alex Smith is only a messenger of evil, who can only lead to evil acts of satanic glee, I submit the following;

1 AUG 9 7:00PMCDT AT SAINTS
2 AUG 16 7:00PMCDT 49ERS
3 AUG 24 6:30PMCDT AT STEELERS
4 AUG 29 7:00PMCDT PACKERS

Wins in red
REGULAR

1 SEP 8 12:00PMCDT * AT JAGUARS 1 - 0
2 SEP 15 12:00PMCDT ) COWBOYS 1 - 1
3 SEP 19 7:25PMCDT , AT EAGLES 2 - 1
4 SEP 29 12:00PMCDT ) GIANTS 2 - 2
5 OCT 6 12:00PMCDT * AT TITANS 3 - 2
6 OCT 13 12:00PMCDT * RAIDERS 4 - 2
7 OCT 20 12:00PMCDT * TEXANS 4 - 3
8 OCT 27 12:00PMCDT * BROWNS 5 - 3
9 NOV 3 12:00PMCST * AT BILLS 5 - 4
10 BYE
11 NOV 17 3:05PMCST * AT BRONCOS 5 - 5
12 NOV 24 12:00PMCST * CHARGERS 6 - 5
*****13 DEC 1 12:00PMCST * BRONCOS 7 - 5*****

14 DEC 8 12:00PMCST * AT REDSKINS 7 - 6
15 DEC 15 3:05PMCST * AT RAIDERS 8 - 6
16 DEC 22 12:00PMCST * COLTS 8 - 7
17 DEC 29 3:25PMCST * AT CHARGERS 9 - 7

The Dec 13th Broncos game at arrowhead is the one I'm not sure about. They could lose that and still make it to the playoffs at 8 - 8, maybe.

I think the trio of Jamaal/Bowe/Alex Smith is going to do well this season. It's Reid's first year and he is going to adjust his offense to the guys here, look for Jamaal to play a larger role in the pass game later in this season if these other yo yo's can't play #2 WR in this offense. Obviously, Reid likes speed at WR and the #2's right now ain't real spicy, so I expect Reid to succumb to Jamaal's greatness and bless the young man with all that is speed and will by getting him split out wide and driving that ball downfield pronto. Six. J Charles. Again. And again.

So, assuming the #2 WR spot is a catastrophe except when Jamaal is #2, it would be reasonable to think the TE position that this staff put so much energy in to, will be an occasional if not formidable group that can score in the red zone. If Moeaki can keep a season together then who knows, maybe this offense can really hurt ya.

The bread and butter is Jamaal & Bowe with Alex Smith pushing the buttons. I like Knile Davis in this thing also, he's got that pistol position ability.

And, of course, that defense is going to get after it again this season. I like Justin Houston in this style, he's going to have a big year, I believe. Tamba will too, I expect and the DL will finally have the spark they need to be an attack type of front seven. I expect Poe to really excel in this scheme.

what you got for 2013 Chiefs football? 7 -9? 5 - 11? 19 - 0?

Browns roster isn't bad, especially their front 7. Similar to every team in the AFCN.

I think people expecting 9-7 or better are way too optimistic for a team that picked 1.1 last year.

The Browns have a great CB, SS to go along with that front 7 too.

I think if the Chiefs expect Poe to be an every down player we are in big trouble especially trying to stop the run. I think he is going get blown off the ball more times than not. Rotate Powe in and I think that could be a power move and give Poe some rest.

I am kind of worried about our run defense + the CB opposite of Brandon Flowers. We also gave up Arenas for a FB. This team has a lot to prove before we can crown their asses.

I don't see a true #1 WR on their team. Maybe some nice complementary guys, but nobody that really stands out.

It's all gonna depend on Weeden. Heckert and Holmgren did a nice job getting some talent on that team the last few years.

Gordon or Little have the potential to be a really good pair of WR's.

Considering outside of Bowe, we have a bunch of unknown never shown anything shit at WR, I'd take either of them.

More years of mediocrity. Because they're the Chiefs.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
