The SNL Thread

I've been considering doing this for a while, so here goes. A thread to discuss anyone & anything relating to the show.

They keep a pretty tight lid on all images & apparently stay after youtube as well, so those kinds of things might be a 'lil hard to come by, but oh well.

Pretty much everyone here seems to be a fan of it on some level, so it might be kinda fun.

Its as close to Cant Miss Television as there is for me.

1. It was a new episode
2. They have done the raped teen boy skit before
3. The skit last night was a redo/sequel with new lines

Last night's show was one of the lamest of all time.

SNL is like that old guy in your office who should have retired but is still around for some political or nepotistic reason.

Terrible.

And an hour into the show there was a sketch with Russel Crowe, I was like, "oh right, he's he HOST" #invisible.

Just crap.

Singer was crap too.

I didn't watch last night, but in general (and possibly last night), they seem to have sold their soul to the liberal movement. That seems to consume a lot of their creative energy. Add to it that the cast isn't as funny at they were in the 70s and 80s (IMO only), and you get a program that's in decline.

I actually thought Crowe killed his monologue, there was a comic timing and warmth I didnt expect

The rest of the show was very hit and miss, you're quite right that he wasnt used enough, but Henry the Eighth was great, Uncle Terry was ok

The Bad Comic character on Weekend Update was one of the worst things on this show I have seen...The audience seemed uncomfortable with how bad that bit was...unless there is some new talent coming next year, I don't see this lasting much longer..

Haven't dug this up for a while, but tomorrows show promises to be weird

Elon Musk is your host, yet apparently he is HYPER controversial, so much so that some cast members are refusing to even appear in skits with him... this show is sooo woke that its almost impossible to give a **** anymore

Lorne has let the inmates run the asylum

Is there ANY American Institution the left hasn't completely ruined?

I'll watch out of morbid curiosity, but this current bunch of NYC woke jokes can kiss my ass... this show will never again be the relevant force it once was

Premature to tell how big a brouhaha this actually is.

Apparently SNL has always let 'performers' opt-out of skits with people they weren't comfortable around. But we haven't always had Twitter, and twitter speculation to precede the show. So when performers start grousing on the twitweb about the upcoming guest, tongues start wagging.

Haven't had a full-on boycott since Nora Dunn boycotted The Diceman

Speaking of which, debuted yesterday.

Ep1 had a pretty good bit about a new Woke Fitbit that tracked your woke points on a wristwatch. 5000 points for throwing a rock at a cop car, 500 for holding a BLM placard for an hour, etc.

With all due respect BL, I've seen absolutely nothing in Che that warrants me giving a damn about some special of his

He's just never funny, his angle of attack is always so sharp as to preclude any surprise at his conclusions... he only has one bitter, graceless note void of humor

Same as that eminently punchable kuck, Jost

Grievance comedy can suck it, Trebek

It's pretty repulsive what the mainstream has become. Nobody is allowed to have an opinion other than to maintain the status quo or be canceled. The side who has constantly compared the other side to Nazi Germany have actually been the ones to follow the Nazi playbook lock, stock and barrel. The funniest, yet saddest part of all is they are completely oblivious to it.

I'll be watching for the first time since the Will Ferrel years only because I have money riding on Musk mentioning Dogecoin.
