Pinkel announced Levi Copelin's dismissal from the team a few minutes ago.

No reason given, but Copelin had to be on a zero-tolerance schedule after being one of the guys arrested in the parking lot with DGB as a freshman and after some of his other run-ins (noticeably: Getting busted for using an illegal supplement in the offseason).

Doesn't hurt this year, since Copelin was out all year for the supplement issue. He would have been in the WR mix next season, but I'm not sure what role he would have taken (probably would have started spring ball as the No. 1 H-WR).

DeArmond was on local radio yesterday talking about how worrisome the interior line has been to this point.

I just don't know about AJ and the guards making the line calls.

They are changing that back to the center.

Of course, AJ also moved the guards back 6 inches or so and I have no idea what impact that has had.

I find it fascinating that no matter who Mizzou recruits/signs at DE, they end up being studs. It could just be luck, but I imagine it has more to do with Coach Kul and Pat Ivey.

There are some duds in there (Braden Burnett, Mike Keck), but I think a lot of it has to do with them finding projectable, athletic body types (Aldon, Kony, Loud, Golden, Ray, etc.) and being elite teachers of technique and burst.

The moving back of the guards is worrisome, but I also think it explains some of the issues with between-the-tackles running to this point.

It's also something that has improved as the program has gotten better and they've gotten more primary targets. It's not just the guys here... there are several near-misses (the Hunter kid at LSU, Randy Gregory, Jhonny Williams were all early Mizzou targets that have turned into/will turn into studs at other schools).

I like moving the line calls back to Boehm. I'm not sure why that was taken away - maybe the plan was to take better advantage of Boehm's athleticism and try to pull him more or something.

I believe the plan with changing the guard alignment was to make them more like traditional guards and make it a little bit easier to combo block from that position. I expected there to be some learning curve with the new approach and am willing to be patient on it. You're also dealing with a couple of slightly experienced but still new players in there, so I'm sure that's a factor.

Definitely an aspect that needs to improve. If Gatti and Hall don't improve, hopefully Rhodes or Chappell or Williams does improve enough to get some time at those spots.

Maybe it's just the Mizzou fan in me but this game concerns me. Seems like every game I think I can just relax & watch them roll, it turns into a close game.
