Movies and TV MDBS: Rebooting Sliders

All right, so a popular choice to redo would be the late 90s product of Sliders -the show were four unwitting adventurers transport to random parallel Earths as they try to return to their original world while not getting killed or trapped in a foreign place (such as America invaded by Soviet Union, a world with no antibiotics or one with Egyptian pharaohs running the scene with genetically modified huge scarabs guarding their Pyramids.) and possibly not confused with their physically identical doppelgangers.

The original cast:

Quinn Mallory (Jerry O'Connell) A young genius who invents the Sliding Device in the "prime" Earth. Troubled by his deceased dad and used to be bullied as a kid.

Arturo (John Rhys-Davies) Quinn's physicist professor. Serves as the straight man foil to the rest of the gang as well as an authoritative figure on most academic subjects ranging and as external commentator on "prime" Earth society. May or may not have been replaced by an evil double version on one slide.

Wade (Sabrina Lloyd) Streetwise-ish young friend of Quinn's and wavering love interest. Seemed like she got put into damsel in distress situations a lot of times.

Rembrandt "Cryin' Man" Brown (Cleavant Derricks) - A fallen soul singer who got sucked into the second slide in his Cadillac. A lot of times just kind of "there" with the gang unless an episode focused on him for whatever reason.

So, if you're doing a direct reboot a la Abram's Star Trek, who do you cast to replace these four principal actors (and do you bring in the equivalent to Kari Wurher (sp) to replace Sabrina Lloyd?)

Or do you go the Ronald Moore's Batttlestar route and keep some characters but change and add others as well as the overall tone of the show entirely?

As a kid who grew up loving the first couple seasons of Sliders (said in the quiet creepy Sliders voice,) I would love to see a reboot. The Tomorrow People has seen like 4 reboots, it seems, since the 90's, so this show warrants one.

As a part-time independent filmmaker, I have a concept for a series of some sorts which would draw elements from the ideas of Sliders. Think of a cross between Fringe, Sliders, Groundhog Day, and Entourage, with some All That, Deadwood, and The Office thrown in. Stay Tuned!

I thought it jumped the shark when it went from the sliders going through alternate realities and trying to get home to a inter-dimensional conspiracy war across the universes story. They lost part of their cast and the show really went downhill.
