http://cjonline.com/sports/football/...ood_works_team
The "good hands" people have honored Kansas safety Darrell Stuckey for his good works. Stuckey, an all-conference player for the 20th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks, has been named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team that recognizes 11 Football Bowl Series athletes for outstanding efforts in volunteerism and community service. An elected member of the university's student senate as well as a member of the 2008 All-Big 12 first-team defense, Stuckey's volunteer activities include speaking at schools and youth groups, working with Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and Read With the Jayhawks programs. The Kansas City, Kan. native was named a Big 12 Community of Champions member and earned his team's co-Leadership Award a year ago. This season he is a candidate for a number of national awards including the Bronko Nagurski Award (top defender), Bednarik Award (top defender), Thorpe Award (top defensive back), Lott Award (on and off the field success for defender) and Lowe's Senior CLASS Award (on and off the field excellence). |
